What is this mindset that if you're a foreigner, you're not allowed to leave a marriage when things get bad without running the risk of being called a scammer? Everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect. From what was presented on camera, Angela didn't seem to extend that grace to Michael. Week in and week out, she verbally, physically, and mentally abused this man. There was zero respect shown. In my personal opinion, I do believe Michael's initial agenda was to come to America if possible, but that his reasoning for staying with Angela wasn't based upon that solely. Contrary to popular belief, not every person abroad desires to live in the States. In my opinion, Michael probably figured he was getting a bonus by coming to America and would make do with the marriage. I do believe he found himself loving her along the way, and that's why he put up with the abuse. Trust me, if he was a scammer, he would know that there are much easier ways of getting to America other than allowing yourself to be humiliated and abused for seven years. At any rate, I wasn't there, so I don't have a dog in this fight. Just my opinion.

I went through the immigration process with my husband and did it without a lawyer and he is right! You join group chats and everything to find out about the processes, documents and interview questions. It’s very stressful! I was on Reddit, and immigration groups as well. We started our process before WhatsApp was even created lol. I believe him. My husband is from India…which is another country that it is always a long and difficult immigration process.

This puts so much in perspective, I can tell he’s being genuine, he is very similar to my husband in terms of character. He took a lot of abuse and it’s sad that this is the out come. We don’t talk about men being abused enough and how much they go through and how difficult it may be for them to leave an abusive relationship. Holding on and hoping this would have improved when they were finally together. It’s sad that now he’s alone and miserable. And what he held on to for so long was a delusion of what could have been versus the reality of what it actually was. Very unfortunate situation. Depression in men look different. Not saying that he’s depressed but men aren’t always good at articulating their feelings especially when there’s a language barrier. I’m glad he’s able to get support and finally remove himself from this toxicity. It’s not good for his mental health, not just as a man but as a human being altogether. 💪🏽🙏🏽❣️
