IKR,it's so hard to make a good solid remake or reboot of anything. Some might overuse the nostalgia that it becomes a different project than it was supposed to. Or people might subvert it so badly that it doesn't become what it should've been. Then a lot of people would be very disappointed over how it became and complain about what it could've been. Mostly the complaints would mostly be about the wasted potential it had.

The writing is absolutely superb. There are no good guys or bad guys. Like Martin said, all of the characters are grey, and that makes it real. Another great thing about the writing is when Daniel-san's( I will always call him that) wife pokes fun at the fact that all of this is stemming from a 35 year old Karate beef. It's ridiculous and unrealistic, and the writers know that. They find a way to make light of it, and then make it believable. Amazing stuff! Can't wait for season 3.

The Karate Kid was a very influential movie for me as a kid. It was one of the factors that led me into taking up judo in my teens. I later ended up winning a lot of statewide (California) and national tournaments. In a way, I had my own Karate Kid experience that was similar to the movie. I had my rivals, my falls, my sensei, and my big tournament wins. This series is such a trip for me because it parallels many of my own thoughts and experiences between the 80's and now. How much different the new generation of kids are. How even though the times have changed so much, there is always a desire to learn to fight. Seeing these actors from the original movie come together like this is something I thought I could only dream up. Even without the nostalgia, this series is amazing. It really makes you think about what actually makes someone a good guy or a bad guy. As they say in the interview, it's not just black and white.

This show is more intricate than Game of Thrones. The amount of interweaving of all these stories is crazy.

I started watching mostly for the nostalgia of the 80s, I liked Karate Kid but was not a super fan. I have to say, this new version is beautifully done! I really, really like it!

Really nice how fast Mary speaks, but every time she does, William Zabka looks like he is thinking "you talk a lot".
@cheshirecat16113 жыл бұрын
I disagree on that one. Billy seems to be a bit nervous during interviews in general and he mostly looks at the person speaking at the moment. To me it seems like he was just listening and actively thinking about what she was saying.

Martin Kove for some reason gives me the impression that he is in real life just like John Kreese is in the karate kid movie. Idk🤷♂️
@bigeric10304 жыл бұрын
Ralph and Billy(and Pat Morita several years back) all swear that Martin Kove is the quietest but nicest guy in real life. Stallone said so, too. They said that he just relishes getting to be such a Super-Evil Villain Scary guy on screen because he’s truly not that fellow in real life.
