How was she to know something was going to happen? He was due to come back Friday once he got his visa back. Her family in Florida just experienced a hurricane, no wonder she wanted to get back to them and they also had a dog in someone else’s care. They were supposed to go for 5 days and she stayed there with him for 2 weeks. Not selfish at all, just unfortunate.. you don’t know either of them, none of us do.

The issue was going to be fixed on a Friday, Liam died on Wednesday, 2 days before. She couldn't be bothered to wait so they could leave together. You could tell at Nial's concert that they went to that Liam was under the influence of some kind of drugs by the way he was acting. So instead of staying and making sure he was safe ( because nothing crazy happened while she was there), she left him and he's dead.
