This chemistry video tutorial provides a basic introduction into enthalpy of solution and enthalpy of hydration. It explains how to calculate the enthalpy of solution given the enthalpy of hydration and the lattice energy of an ionic compound. It also discusses how to calculate the enthalpy of solution using heat of formation values also known as enthalpy of formation.

Ive watched you every other day for the past 7 months and when I say this is easily one of the most helpful videos I have seen, I truly mean it. The concepts in this were explained in my Gen chem 2 lecture yesterday extremely poorly and I felt super stressed about it because I have a quiz this Thursday, but your methods of explaining and the practice of active recall and ur precision has helped me time and time again. I am a bio major and got a 4.0 last semester and am aiming for a 4.0 this semester to, a lot of that is thanks to u so thank u for everything you do u change lives.

Hey, I love these videos. Thank you so much. I would recommend lowering the question slightly on the screen, because whenever you pause the video to work on a problem, the KZbin title drops down and obscures the text - making it difficult to work on the problem without the video running.

If the solvation of NaCl is endothermic.. then why solvation of LiCl is exothermic? Can anyone clear my doubt??
@alexchase3661
@alexchase3661 4 жыл бұрын
I believe the explanation is: enthalpy of solution of Li+ ions is much more positive as they are smaller atoms so have a greater affinity for the delta negative oxygen atoms in the water
