During this cult gig from the old days when Cernunnos was still alive, the ultimate Belgian horde performed some wistfully meandering material soon to be released on their 1995 *_``Pʀᴏᴘʜᴇᴄɪᴇs Oғ Pᴀɢᴀɴ Fɪʀᴇ´´_* -masterpiece -i.a.: the grandiosely epic *_ˋˋAt The Sound Of The Millennium Black Bellsˊˊ_* & the unrivalled satanic _pagan black metal_ hymn *_ˋˋDeny The Holy Book Of Liesˊˊ_* . Back then, the gig took place in youth centre 𝘑𝘏 𝘡𝘪𝘨𝘻𝘢𝘨 in Merksplas. It feautured the now legendary original line‑up -the one that obviously also recorded the promo debut from 1994.

Thanks for posting this! Been looking for some footage of Cernunnos playing with Enthroned for some time now. The Cernunnos/Lord Sabathan era of Enthroned is the only era I ever cared about. This era deserves way more attention. Makes me sad how the new stuff gets treated to so much modern promotional muscle while the old stuff is buried and forgotten. Nothing Enthroned has released after the Towards the Skullthrone of Satan and the Cernunnos tribute albums can compare to this era.

Have you listened to the other Black Metal titan of the early Belgian scene - Ancient Rites? It's frustrating, because according to Metal Archives, Ancient Rites and Enthroned were pretty much the only Black Metal bands from the early era, the first wave essentially. I don't like the other Belgian Black Metal bands that formed later in the 90s :(

@@starvation-metalband-offic8641 I like "The Diabolical Serenades"-the debut album of Ancient Rites. But to my ears that's an old school death metal album in the vein of Benediction. I don't consider that album as belonging to the second wave of black metal.

@@starvation-metalband-offic8641 Enthroned's Promo from 1994 is also pretty good I think. It opens with a telling instrumental that doesn't feature on their legendary debut. It's called "Legend Of The Coldest Breeze" & it features some cool acoustic guitar play by Tsebaoth.

@@starvation-metalband-offic8641 Have you tried listening to "A Tempest Through The Graves" by Forbidden Temple? It's a very promising extended play I think. They are all about early Behemoth-worship-to be more specific: the era before "Sventevith (Storming Near The Baltic)". As a matter of fact, this EP reminds me very much of the legendary Poles debut "The Return Of The Northern Moon".

@@temazros6112 I've listened to that album before by Ancient Rites, but I like the Fatherland album the best! That's interesting you say that because though I've never considered Ancient Rites to be a full fledged Black Metal band, I've always considered them to be Death Metal with a blackened edge to them. On Fatherland they also have a lot of melodic riffs too, so one might say that they are Melodic Blackened Death Metal. The band themselves always like to call themselves "Black Metal" too and they are often billed with other Black Metal bands when they play live. They are a difficult band to label/categorize

In real life *_Cernunnos_* 's name was *_Dan Vandeplas_* . Tragically, this talented young man made an end to his life by hanging himself, because, to be sure, he could pound those drums in a mightily proficient manner. That's why I would like to dedicate my comments on this 𝚈𝚘𝚞𝚃𝚞𝚋𝚎‑page to him -by exclaiming the blasphemously appropriate catchphrase : « *_Cernunnos_* , may you rape the angels! »
