Please supply your Victoria Crown Pigeons with twigs and pencil thick branches ... tons of them ... from 6 to 18 inches long, scattered all over the enclosure ground. I promise, they will thank you. They will built a nest similar to an eagle's nest It is very difficult for them to build with smaller pieces like pine straw. Large dried leaves and large feathers are also used.
@shelbyvanhulle60472 жыл бұрын
Blake you should check out miss cog hill farm and cog hill farm because they sometimes live stream their Victoria crown pigeons building their nest. They have a really cool set up for theirs too.

coghill farms had a good coup,took storage barn one with doors on the long side, inside he put linoleum on the floor ( made cleaning easy ), put 3 or 4round poles so plenty of room to nest, then put nesting box attach to the wall for laying bout 4 or 5 boxs . hope this helps

Yup you had frost luckily Florida sun melts it sooner than up north where sometimes it just doesn't, happy your animals are all well and have vitality, yea the weather shifts are abrupt lately guess it's good to bring them in and do the lamps and heater deals, all the best to you and the critters!!!

glad you had better prep this time. It will probably happen again this winter before we are through. all you can do is keep learning preventative measures like you do. you do a wonderful job at the ranch Blake. Enjoyable to watch as the ranch continues to grow. thank you.

Many turtle species (especially NA Wood Turtles & E Box) require a cooling down to stimulate breeding. It’s the early morning dew freezing that creates the frost on the grass.
@tiffanykirkland6852 жыл бұрын
Up here in Northern New York, by the Canada border, we routinely get snow on Halloween, and are a foot deep in snow by Thanksgiving. It's good to hear about Florida getting the freeze, finally!

For your crown Victorian pigeon add some small branches, pine needles on the floor for them to build their nest... Crown victorian will lay 1 or 2 eggs a year, hope this helps

I really love seeing all the animals on the Ranch.😊 That’s good you have all those chickens. Here in Colorado it’s really hard for us to get eggs in our stores as soon as they put them in the shel they get sold out right away. The reason we are having a hard time with the eggs is because they just passed the law for our chickens to be cage free and we are having cases of the bird flu her in Colorado.

Oh my gosh….you have to watch the Cog Hill Family and Mrs Cog Hill Farm. She did a video of their Victoria pigeon building a nest this past few weeks. Check it out. Had to laugh when you said you saw frost. I was born a raised in South Fla. I live in Jacksonville now and I see that kind of weather all the time now. Tho, can’t imagine you guys had frost. I think it was in the late 70s, It snowed in Ft. Lauderdale. It melted when it hit the ground. True story.😂

i have a off topic question have you ever dealt with swollen eyes with your aquatic turtles? if so how did you cure it
@stephanieearl18642 жыл бұрын
Your Victoria Crown pigeons will need you to gather materials from trees like pine/cedar branches, feathers, etc… to spread on the floor of their enclosure and help build their nest 🪺 you should put up a camera where their nest is to watch them build it!
@carlawilson37452 жыл бұрын
With the Victorian Crown I have seen keepers put stuff for their nests into their area for them to decide what they want to use to build their nests. Plus they are big birds so they don't usually use small items for their nests.
