I agree. It makes me sick how kids and teens get extremely light sentences. Depending on the severity of the crime, kids and teens should be sentenced the same as an adult would be sentenced for the same crime. If a kid kills their parents, they would only get 10-20 years in prison, but if they were an adult, they would get life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.

He mentioned he had bipolar disorder and based on what I saw, it looks like bipolar type 1 and he was likely experiencing a psychotic episode. Bipolar disorder type I is extremely serious and challenging to manage. My sibling was diagnosed with it, and it has been traumatizing for our family. Despite being a successful chemical engineer, he faces unpredictable waves of psychosis. His episodes are similar to what this guy was experiencing, and when they end, he is overwhelmed with guilt and regret. “I’m sorry, I’m just sick. I don’t want to be this way” is something my brother often says after an episode. We've had to call the police for everyone’s safety, and he’s been hospitalized twice. It breaks my heart to think of those without a strong support system. Unfortunately, we learned that love and support alone are not enough. Managing BD requires therapy, a good diet, adequate sleep, and medication with significant side effects. The support system must also recognize red flags leading to psychosis. Preventing these episodes is crucial because each one causes permanent brain damage. With proper care, they can be productive members of society and live fulfilling lives but it requires compassion from others.

one thing ppl don't seem to understand - both suspects and ppl in the comments - is that as a police officer, you are trained to expect the worst and be on the defensive. when a suspect is being violent and uncooperative, they are a threat and officers have to respond as such. LEOs respond with force to reduce the risk of injury to themselves and the others on the scene. they have to take into account when a suspect says they are injured, they may be - which is why they call in EMS - but handcuffs being uncomfortable or a bruised side from being tackled does not mean they can back down. if they do, the suspect can take that opening and continue being violent, like the teen who was medically cleared but continued being aggressive. this keeps the threat present and the officers have to keep it controlled. that isn't abuse of power or police brutality, that's being trained to reduce risk and injury when dealing with someone who gave a reason to believe they could be potentially violent and cause harm

DISCLAIMER FOR EVERYONE: A. Cops ARE allowed to touch you, yes, even without your consent. No one cares if you're uncomfortable, you're being arrested, it's not designed to be super hospitable. The back of a cop car is not your safe space, neither is jail, there are no mints on those thin a$$ pillows. B. Resisting is anything other than complying with lawful orders cops give you. Just because you scream "I'm not resisting!" Doesn't mean you're not resisting. C. Fighting with police will not support your false claims of innocence. If you genuinely believe you're innocent, go with the flow, do what they say, get a nice little payday later. D. No, theyre not joking with you, yes they are serious. So no beed to keep asking, repeatedly. I've never seen a cop joke about arresting someone. "April fools, just playing, youre free to go"- said no cop ever. E. I know you think so, but you probably don't know your rights, especially if exercising said rights lands you on your face in the dirt. You probably got one wrong. F. Despite your narcissistic tendencies, you dont get to dictate your arrest. I know you want to be in control, but you can't. It'll be good for you. And these are less advice and more just observations. - Screaming at a cop "you look stupid" while you're in cuffs being lead into the back of a squad car, after screaming and fighting cops in fact, makes YOU look stupid. -Saying you're "scared" kinda gets overshadowed by you literally fighting and talking shite to law enforcement. You weren't scared when you were preteding to be tough. Just when those cuffs came out. - You're not gonna sue anyone. You dont have a lawyer on retainer, we've seen your car/where you live, you cant afford a retained lawyer. Even if you did miraculously have one, you can't sue the cops for you being stupid. Try a civil suit against your mom.

mental illness factors into crime investigations, but it doesn't give a free pass. you can be mentally ill and escalate a situation, but u still escalate the situation. if anything, it's MORE dangerous because normal reasons and reactions don't come into play. kaylon needs both mental help and jail time

the guy with the gun.. who barricaded his grandmother into her room and pulled a gun... they kept saying Kaylin.. but i'm fairly certain his name is Caleb? idk. I could be wrong.. and then using mental health as a reason to NOT be arrested? yeah that doesn't fly bud... to all those who have mental health problems (me included) i'm so sorry for someone abusing their mental state and trying to make it the reason they shouldn't be arrested. that's just so disappointing

So much of this behavior reminds me of what happened to a friend. Her husband had her up against a wall, banging her head repeatedly into the wall. She got an arm free, and slapped him across the face. It shocked him just enough that he stopped, put his hand to his cheek saying 'You hit me!....You HIT me!" Oblivious to his own violence that brought on the slap. The boy who was kneed in the ribs seems just as bizarrely unaware
