So many tabs online have this tuned to B on the 6th! Thank you for using your ears :D

I just recently how to play this but I haven’t played it along with the song yet - I’ve just learned how to play by tempo, so I had no idea it was in Bb/A#. The tab I was following had it in standard B but it had the same power chords you had in this lesson. It just sounds more right when you play it. Thanks for this lesson, Simon. Can’t wait to stomp on my HM-2 again.

HA ! most people say Fender amps cant handle high gain, but you prove them wrong :) Gonna get a deluxe reverb for that fender clean + some nice gainy pedals.

The 12s on my LP ain't gonna cut it for this one... I've got it in B standard and it stays in tune surprisingly well but Bb might 🐝 a bit sloppy. (Sorry for 🐝. There were just too many Bs) ...oh well.

which guitar did you use and the amps? and did you use distortion pedals? i am completely new to electric guitar and metal sounds while it comes to playing. Do we need distortion pedals for every metal song?
@SimonSmithGuitar4 жыл бұрын
You'll need either a distortion pedal or an amp with distortion yes
@vegetariancannibal30984 жыл бұрын
@@SimonSmithGuitar Thank you so much , i dont know when but when i do get a job i will be coming back to this will get myself a amp that provides distortion and a electric guitar and learn from you .. i loved it how you played this.

I know im late but what string gauge is it?
@Nativusdes6 жыл бұрын
Strokes are slightly incorrect i believe but could be wrong, still great. Sound way better in b :o
@gisibah7 жыл бұрын
The actual tuning on the song is Drop Bb: Bb - F - Bb - Eb - G - C
@maxwellhoffman74369 жыл бұрын
What strings are you using for this tuning??
@BigKyleTX9 жыл бұрын
Maxwell Hoffman I would recommend 11-56 or 12-60. B-flat is tough on a 6 string
@maxwellhoffman74369 жыл бұрын
BigKyleTX I know Amon Amarth uses 13-62 baritone strings for B standard
@BigKyleTX9 жыл бұрын
Maxwell Hoffman Are they installed on an actual baritone guitar then? Otherwise I would imagine the intonation would be miles off
@maxwellhoffman74369 жыл бұрын
No, standard Gibson Explorers and ESP E-II EXs/Snakebyte. The thing is since they're essentially a standard set of 10s with a low 62 on the bottom, they work perfectly. Intonation with a plain G string actually gets really off when you get around 20-22 gauge, and they just don't feel as balanced. I use 11-50s (Dunlop Heavy Core) in D standard currently
@BigKyleTX9 жыл бұрын
Maxwell Hoffman Hm, I will have to look into those. I'm always in the market to change stuff around like that until I find something I really like. So far for 6-string sets the M-Steels are pretty killer. A lot more tone from the strings.

Awesome! But the phrasing on the fifth fret is not entirely correct, every video I have watched gets this wrong. There are some nuances to this song riffwise which gets lost. The phrasing on the fifth fret should not be two eighth notes, you hang on to the fifth fret for a quarter note and THEN you hit the double " duh duh". Dividing that part of the riff into four eighth notes kinda kills the pockety groove of the riff. Entombed around this era were more like an old motown-band playing death metal. I know I am kind of splitting hairs, but that little note is what makes it groove and feel so cool. Just my two cents. Thank you for the vid!
