ik this is stupid but i have nowhere to share my thoughts, so what if FL actually is alive but because their whole crime life is tied to betrayal (Harvey tried to dispose FL when they stopped being useful, and so did the Halcyon from FL perspective) they thought that Jackdaw would betray them too after black dusk, so they survived but laid low because of paranoia of being betrayed again

edit, tldr: its too many dead ends and I can't believe it without a single, solid story that explains jackdaw and fl's whole relationship, and also that jackdaw and fl *kinda* trusted each other unlike Harvey and halcyon and stuff nah I don't think that's true, because unlike the freelance heists team or group or however you wanna call it and halcyon, jackdaw and fl actually trusted each other, like they had each other's backs, which is also what was meant to be expressed with the retribution cutscene; jackdaw trusts fl, and fl knows it. although, in the cutscene fl does also point out "I'll help you kill Halcyon. But after that.... You and I are going to have a long chat, old man.". so, they both want to kill halcyon and then, when there's time, have a "long chat", which by that, fl might mean a number of things. it does also get you to question if fl really trusts jackdaw all that much, so he decides to fake his death to avoid getting back with jackdaw, since jackdaw said "Assuming that means we're both still alive. I'm looking forward to it.", so it would make sense that fl faked his death to avoid ever seeing jackdaw again, maybe because he reminds them of rose. but if fl didn't want to meet with jackdaw, why did they propose a chat in the first place? its this confusion and countless dead ends that, without a solid story, doesn't really make me believe in ur thought I think fl is dead

@@xtremebrainrot We (player) and The Freelancer are two seperate entities, which is why we can watch cutscenes like Halcyon, Sunset or Epilogue. We can control the FL and be with them on missions, but anything what's happening in between them is mystery to us. So we'll never know if FL actually is alive or not. There's a small possibility, but it's really low honestly. Plus, i'm not a professional engineer, but judging by the layout of bombs we laid during black dusk, Fl should be alive. Possibly injured, but alive. The whole complex should collapse, but the elevator part would probably be safe. Plus there's a blast door so yeah whatever

@@ianisabastard my point is that if you almost get killed twice by someone you trust, you probably will have a huge paranoia and trust issues, and while /we/ know that Jackdaw is trustworthy, The FL doesn't, and this paranoia probably is the reason why FL never resurfaces again, assuming that they're alive still, that's just a fun little theory that might make a bit of sense if you think about it enough
