ive been struggling with perspective for a while now but after analyzing this video quickly i was able to put it into practice for not just placing objects in environments but designing characters and such, everything in your videos is explained so clearly even when you're working hard at other things, thanks for that.

Your tutorials might actually be the difference for me to get into an art collage so I definitely enjoy watching these. You've taught me more fundamentals then my previous art teacher has in 3 years... And through all that time all I've ever been good at is copying. I felt like a copycat until i started to learn the fundamentals all over again. Thank you ^^

I imagine what's going on with your observations is that you are discovering 1, 2 and 3 point traditional perspective constructions are just a simplification of reality, we use them to create the illusion of perspective but none of them are exactly what we see with our eyes in nature. Objects rotated in different orientations to our POV can all have different VPs but they all need to be aware of the drawings COV. Curvilinear perspective will get you closer but it's a bear to construct.

Well i just tried out a marker on a inkjet and it works fine but i think there is a bit of bleeding going on but definitely not as bad as i thought it was going to be. Safe to use for light use for sure but continual working might cause a bit of muddiness.

inkjet are for sure better in quality, but i think sometimes when you try to draw on top with a ballpoint pen it might have that glossy, really fine finish that is kind of annoying in that case..might have to do with the paper also though

Yes, I would study environments the same way but you need to add some compositional knowledge to improve your picture making ability. "Framed Ink" is a great book for that. Also look up some books on the subject from the landscape painting world. Improving your compositions will bring your design studies to life.

Hi scott thanks for another video, i forgot to ask on last weeks video does it matter how your line work is printed as in inkjet vs laser printed ? I heard that one of them does not like copic markers or is that old technology now?
@kingdarko
@kingdarko 11 жыл бұрын
i was more worried about the ink smearing from the printed line work but it seams fine to use with copics, The printer i used was an inkjet just an all in one made by HP. I guess they used better inks now so it's not as much as an issue as i thought it was.

Hey scott, I've been trying to figure out this perspective stuff and I've got 1, 2 and 3 point down, but is it possible to combine them? When I look at objects in real life they never perfectly line up like those imaginary scenarios the perspective books set up and was wondering if every object has their own perspective grid or if I'm just nutty. I appreciate your videos for taking the time out of your day to help us out :)

"I get a little confused when another VP is added. I thought it was a one point perspective drawing :/" said Chris Riley. Was wondering what your answer to that is. In a one dimensional perspective can there be several vanishing points?
@scottrobertsondesign
@scottrobertsondesign 9 жыл бұрын
Chandrix Fonseka That's just a simplification for the fact that almost all of the objects in the scene use just the one vanishing point. You can have an infinite number of VPs in a scene depending on the inclination and orientation of the objects to the camera. Any object that is rotated or tilted will use a new set of VPs within the 1-point VP scene.
@ManliodelFoco
@ManliodelFoco 6 жыл бұрын
can we treat all the landscape scene starting as one point perspective? In this way your first vp will correspond to the cv and than all planes and object will vanish in two or one point perspective accordingly to their inclination, orientation and relation with the center of vision (1th point of vanish)? please correct me if I am wrong.

If you were to put another tower to the right of the biggest tower, using the 3rd VP, wouldn't it look odd? When you have 2 side VPs, how do you know which one to use to place things.. Do you have a reference for a good perspective book? For some reason I can't grasp more then the general idea of it. Thanks in advance! Sorry for posting a year after the video was made lol, I just found it. Wonderful btw :] can't wait to watch the rest!
