We will be building our house in a couple of months time. We have been issued with a BAL 29 rating but we are building to a BAL 40. We are surrounded by forest, but the forest will not be hard up against our future house and our land is not steep. These bushfire regulations do add to the cost of a build but they are worth it. The house featured in this video is very beautiful and no one would know it was fire rated. I hope the family is enjoying their home.

Can someone reply with a link to aus building codes for wildfire areas. It isn't just californiawho could do with this, everyone should have this in mind.

www.abcb.gov.au/-/media/Files/Resources/Education-Training/Handbook_Bushfire_Verification_Method.pdf this would be a good start but actual codes called the National Construction Code (NCC) vol 1 for commercial and vol 2 for Residential can be downloaded from the abcb.gov.au site.

Make sure you build sprinklers on top of your home and sprinkler system around the property.
