According to Wikipedia; Boudica was a queen of the British Celtic Iceni tribe who led an uprising against the occupying forces of the Roman Empire in AD 60 or 61, and died shortly after its failure. She is considered a British folk hero. Interesting.
@marcomiranda65748 ай бұрын
For me, she's the prototype of the warrior queen.
@isisnmagic18126 ай бұрын
If it took wikipedia to teach you this known history, what was they teaching you in school? And not British folk hero, she is not a hero to the Welsh or Irish, just the English and Scottish because the iceni tribe was from Scotland and she raided England to teach the romans a lesson after they tried to take her land when her husband the chief died and the raped her daughters and whipped her. Also wikipedia is not allowed as a research tool in schools , colleges or universities in the UK because it's an open source site, meaning all its topics can be easily changed by any user, plus what is posted is not peer reviewed unlike proper accredited historical documents and books.
@CRixon136 ай бұрын
@@isisnmagic1812 I'm certain the Icini were a Celtic tribe from the region of Norfolk. The Romans never got as far as invading Scotland, hence the building of Hadrians wall. Boudica's husband had "welcomed" the Roman's prior to his death, with the premise the the Romans would allow the Icini to keep their lands with Boudica as ruler. Sadly the Romans did not stick to their side of the bargain... The last battle between Boudica and the Romans, was vastly in Boudica's advantage numbers wise... perhaps 800000 to 100000 Britons. Most of whom would not have been trained warriors, just everyday people, farmers etc. The Roman soldiers however, were highly skilled fighters with better weapons, armour, horses. They outsmarted Boudica and made use of the landscape and terrain of the battle to surround the Britons, wiping out almost the entire army. It's fascinating to me to ponder how different our history would have been if Boudica had won. Many ancient Britanic customs, beliefs and traditions were likely lost due to this time.

@@isisnmagic1812 your bias against Wikipedia is kinda nuts. 1) KZbin comments are not academic publications. It’s a fine source for lay people. 2) It is peer reviewed in the most basic sense of the term. 3) It’s actually a pretty amazing collection of information that managed to render “professional” encyclopedias obsolete because they couldn’t compete in breadth, depth, accuracy, or price. As for what people get taught in school: did you learn that the internet is GLOBAL? Why would you assume people from all over the world would be taught about first century folk heroes from the British isles?

I am 34 years old and I am tired of fighting for over 20 years.. thanks to enya thanks to you my mind soars and it reminds me that we are nothing! Ineed, the footsteps of many of my ancestors walk to this rhythm. Soar my French friend. It is an illusion that we live only in this earthly horizontal realm. Yes, it is a challenge to keep our hearts trained on that fact. Better people than I have done it with excellence. If I can do it now, listening to these tones, I take some of the power they offer and channel it into my life. Boadicea fought in a world smaller than the one we know, but she fought and It gives me hope I can do something, however small, to create the world I want to live in, instead of a world where I merely exist. This song is so beautifully and hauntingly dark and meaningful. Sometimes I listen to this song, and think about a winter drive, with trees, no cell service, and an unnaturally calming feeling. Other times I’ll listen and be stuck with the though of me laying in the middle of a windowless, cubic room, which is slowly being engulfed by a fire, with me silently, emotionlessly accepting my fate. This song brings me to tears most of the time, but I can always feel a sense of warmth while listening.

It's possible that you are subconsciously remembering an episode of Criminal Minds in which the opening scene of the episode has this song playing while a pyromaniac murderer watches people suffocate and burn in a house he's locked the exits. All the while he's in a fireman's suit and breathing oxygen so as to protect himself whilst gazing at the dieing family. It's a twisted episode of an excellent show. This song made the scene strangely disturbing but still has such beautiful haunting mystique.
