This song was playing in the labor room the moment my youngest daugher came into the world in 1997. I was so moved by the experience, I suggested to my wife that we name our newborn "Enya" . During her infancy, I would play this song for her each time she cried. It helped. To this day, she calls this "her song". Thanks to the Enya for which my child is named after.

Yeah it makes me feel weird (good weird)... kinda' like seeing a different world that's hypothetical, but real too, if you can reach it... the song seems cryptic and esoteric too... which is aways freaky-good, next-level stuff (when it comes to a piece of artwork). It's like she's guiding the boy to witness a higher plain of existence or something. then there are those interesting occultish musings such as ascending the pyramid, the hushing finger (journey in silence), and finding this secret access to wild excess. idk... wild emotional thing. it's my first fav song by her. the second is 'May It Be', which also has GREAT lyrics.

No wonder she has sold in excess of 70million records. She has a unique voice, and even though it takes her nearly five years to release each album, you know it will be a memorable one to listen to. The kind of music to relax to, and contemplate the beauties of planet Earth.
@kyachdistent13014 жыл бұрын
I guess when she came out, though it was considered uncool and far from challenging, her sound and style different enough from everything else going on in the rather dumbed down charts of 1988 that it worked and got accepted It helps her sales that America took to her, whereas that deserve such sales were barely bothered with lover there. I do find though that, while, always pleasant, her records tend to echo the same sound over the years so a gap between them helps. Of course now the cool women are all in their 50s and very individual, albums happen sporadically now they've other interests and that the dead industry doesn't hold out for records any more from actual artists.

I was just thinking the same... Remember when you heard novelty (such as this) and it seemed like there was seriously some bit of magic in it? It made you stop and furrow your brow in a sort of awe. Remember when, even if you didn't quite like something, you often still understood its value as a highly-unique and original piece of work? Remember originality itself...? That mix of weird and cool that you didn't know could exist until you were introduced to it? Its esoteric depth of soul tuned you right in that something special was happening. This is what was lost for some reason. Why? People do have mechanical, 'AMGT'-style talent today... where they freak their voice up and down and everyone claps while they sing another person's song. Or if someone does have an original, it is just okay. But few were coming out w powerful original souls past 2000s, imo. In fact, every decade before 2000, from 50s-90s, had towering works of greatness.

@@TopBadge Where is this era's Red Hot Chili Peppers? While it's true the greatest eras of powerful music were the 50s, 60s, and 70a, the difference is, at least SOME great music still existed in the 90s... Today, there is EXTREMELY little, if any, truly original good music coming out. There is mechanical talent, yes (but even in voices and sound, today's popular music is very less-distinctive than in past eras). There's no powerful originality, a distasteful emotional prosaicism, and a distinct lack of lyrical depth.

I guess the only way for the world to even remotely appreciate the message of Enya is through her music. Otherwise we would be just as confused and lost as humanity is presently. So as we attempt to make meaning of life and her lyrics we are guided by the absolute beauty of her music and personality... Music for all time.

My late friend Nick loved Enya and wanted this song and Orinoco flow played at his funeral because he died of prostate cancer in 2019. I didn't have a dry eye because Enya's music meant a lot to me as well. The songs were played with photos of Nick on screen. The service as humanist because Nick was not religious. Nick often discussed with me what he wanted when he died. He wanted to be cremated so the service has held at the crematorium.

I'm a big fan of her. She obviously has something divine in her. What a voice! Probably one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Life in a nutshell. Timeless and eternal. 196

Brilliant, it looks something like a CELESTIAL WALTZ. On a personal level, remember when my daughter was a child, we listened it for her to sleep, today she's almost 30 and has her own family. Missing those times, good times that ternity won't bring anymore.
