It’s a shame that Amhara and other Ethiopians diaspora are not protesting against Abiy Ahmed’s actions on Amhara people! If what is happening now to Amharas happens to Tigray or oromo, their diaspora would be on the streets everyday!

The last Stand Ethiopia is currently going through a difficult time of resource politics. Yes, that is the central theme that has been missing from the discourse in Ethiopian political affairs. Resource politics attempts to detach the political nature of its quest and is difficult to pinpoint and stand against. Resource politics is sometimes presented as a civil rights issue which is tough to oppose, sometimes it comes as an equality issue which is just as hard to oppose. The people who push this method use one type of presentation until it runs its course or until they gain the resource they are seeking and move onto the next resource they are targeting. If there is a pushback, they will adjust their presentation and continue their quest until they gain the resource that they seek (Good example of push back is the recent confrontation with the Orthodox Church) Unlike the TPLF, whose rule was rife with nepotism but still operated under the umbrella of Ethiopia, the current government of Ethiopia is targeting all the pillars of Ethiopia as assets/resources, Resources that have to be taken by the Oromo weather by negotiation or force. These political drivers are the elite few but they have been able to amass support from opportunistic actors. The drivers of this politics are no better than a foreign invader as they are attacking and taking over all assets. For them, this is Ethiopia vs Oromia, not betterment of Oromo within Ethiopia The Oromo now control 1) The military power is in the hands of the Oromo through the governing body. Even the strategic way the government of Ethiopia allowed the TPLF to maintain its status quo, was to maintain it as a military resource against the Amhara, who have risen to defend atrocities committed on them at every corner of land managed by the Oromo. 2) The Economic power is also being cornered by the Oromo a) Addis Ababa which represents about 40% of Ethiopia's Economy is being taken over by the Oromo. They have arguments that they need special privileges because among other things the rivers of Oromia supply water to Addis Ababa. Should the Amhara get special privileges because of the Abaye Waters to the GERD as well? b) Significant industrialization in the past 100 years were in the Addis Ababa to Adama Corridor c) The Oromo are sniffing at the GERD which belongs to every Ethiopian d) Recently, the prime minister of Ethiopia, who barely says anything when Ethnic cleansing of Amhara goes on for months and years, started counting the number of Amharas working in Ethiopian Airlines vs Oromos (The Airline being a target) 3) Media and political discourse is also cornered and directed by the Oromo. Our champions are Angasa Ibrahim and Taye Denda. Our newly minted Centrist Philosopher is Jawar Mohamed. Our Attackers are Kuma Deriba and the likes. Our charge d'affair is the Prime minister himself. 4) Many more can be listed here What is left to take? In my view, the only things that are left to conquer are the Amhara revolt and the only resource left to take over is the Orthodox Church. I am a firm believer that the prime minister gave back a million hectares of land to its rightful owner, the Orthodox church, with the belief that the Aba Sawiros group will ultimately lay claim to it So please understand the question they believe is the issue (Resource) and respond from that stance. They will give it different names, for example Oromo tel (ኦሮሞ ጠል). Unfortunately, we also give it names for them (Ex: Terengenet). Some of our politicians even think that these people don't have a clue of governing. Trust me, they do, they just have a different set of belief systems. Let us help the Orthodox Church stand firm, it is the last vestige. My apologies, this thought was penned in expediency because I heard the Orthodox Church was having its annual meeting (I thought it was in August) I will try to follow up with a more lucid commentary. One last advice: All Ethiopians should understand this belief (It is more like a sickness) will eventually come to your doorstep, so stand up and let your voice be heard. God Bless Ethiopia Gudu Wegbaga
