Most of the criticism I see about this movie is that Jason now runs, can shoot an arrow, and throw an axe. They like the idea of him being this slow and relentless thing that will stalk you and then off screen magically get ahead of you. Personally I think this is a good movie. Acting was good, effects were good, gore and kills were good. Was just a fun movie all around. Townsfolk were crazy as hell.

People that dont like this usually dont remember the older ones. Jason did run in a previous movie, which is a common complaint from this one. This movie is part 1-4 smashed into one movie with explanations like the underground system. The number of call backs is insane as well, from window smash to eye stab and last scene jump scare. Its a solid entry that pays all the respect and adds to the overall cannon. It really is sad the rights have been tied up making this the last movie.

Loads of people complained that Jason runs (among other things) in this film, forgetting that he did just that in the first couple films. He didn't become a plodding engine of destruction until *after* he died and was resurrected.

And that wasn't til the 6th movie. Before that, he more or less just ambushed his victims. But in part 2, he was running across the road like a deer when the cop saw him and tried to chase him through the woods, thinking that he was another counselor trespassing into "Camp Blood." Before he got a hammer in his head from behind after finding Jason's shrine to his mom's head.

They hanged Jason Part 3, but he just reached up and took the noose off. He was also technically hanged (not really) at the end of Jason Lives with the rope around his neck attached to the rock at the bottom of the lake. I think his neck is too thick to actually be hanged. I thought this was a great reimagining of the story and one of the best movies overall...although I do love most of the originals.

This is the best of those early-2000's remakes by far. I liked it a lot when it came out and it still holds up. I am a huge Friday fan, but I'm not bothered by someone playing Jason in a new way or coming up with interesting ideas like the tunnels under the camp (explaining why he always seems to catch up with his prey). That's kind of the whole reason for remakes to exist, imo.
