Beautiful bro, I just bought this camera, I was wondering did you shoot on 24 or 18 fps?

@@natecizzle Thank you so much! And epic I think I shot this all on 18fps

what iso settings did you use for the camera? or did you use manual exposure
@FilmTyler6 ай бұрын
@@Dolphiyn hello! So I used the auto exposure feature in the camera and just made sure I used 200T in the day and 500T at night!

This is amazing! I don’t know much about super 8 but did your footage have sound? And How did you get the film developed?
@FilmTyler11 ай бұрын
Thank you! So I didn’t get this processed with sound but I’m pretty sure the camera does capture it. And I sent of the film to Kodak in London and they scanned it for me!

That is freakin awesome! And one last question what make and model is the Super 8 camera?

So this camera COULD record audio with the film. But the sound film stocks of yesteryear no longer really exist. They were clunky mechanisms. Instead of recording audio on the films itself (See "sound-on-film") as there simply is not enough space - audio was recorded on a separate magnetic tape exactly like a cassette tape. So for super 8 sound cameras - you need sound film cartridges which no longer really exist. There are some brands of sound cameras which have a sync line that you can feed into an external cassette which makes the process a lot more do-able in today's era. BUT another thing you can simply do is the only school sound sync with an external recorder and those little clapper things. Some camera models are better for this though as if there is no crystal sync, the cameras shutter speed will desync with the external audio recording. But for fun home footage - it hardly really matters for short shots - it's just a lot of work putting everything together in post (of course after the hassle of scanning the film which is a whole other debacle haha) That being said - the medium is really fun! It makes for a such a unique experience.

I have 2 questions for you, I just bought the Sony FS5 MK II, I shoot in pp8 1080p, and the default settings of the picture profile make my skin tones look pink, I can't find any videos talking about what my saturation levels should be so my footage isn't pink or desaturated, any advice on where my saturation levels should be? my second question is when you were shooting with the Sony fs5, you were able to get a clean image, with no noise in the shadows, I shoot Slog 3 and the base ISO is 2000 so I am struggling to reduce noise. I am debating if I should shoot in HLG2 because I can drop my ISO and reduce a lot of that noise. how are you able to get clean shadows?

Yo! So I haven’t used the FS5 in such a long time. I had the original FS5 and I just shot in sgumut.cine I think. You need to over expose your image by a stop and when I brought it back on the noise was never there. Also shot in s-log 2! Saturation should always be a little lower or 0 as you do any colour later. I also always used a decent Sony LUT. Sorry I don’t know loads more about this camera!

You will find if you use a tripod or camera stabilizer. The image won't be as shaky and more stable. I would also suggest you clean your gate.
