Fun fact, the Eotech isn’t a red dot. It is a holographic optic. It is much more durable than a red dot and can still function with cracked or shattered glass.

Loved my EOTech EXPS3-4 when I had it. Traded it for an LPVO and am looking at getting the EOTech again years later. The typical seller remorse. Thanks for this video as it shows that the reticle also gets magnified with the target. There are a lot of people claiming that the EOTech reticle due to it being holographic do not magnify behind a 3 or 5x and only the target gets magnified.

They are great sights for sure. Glad you liked the video. I’ve heard similar from a few people, I think it comes from the fact the holographic reticle appears ‘sharper’ and less fuzzy when magnified, but the magnifier makes everything bigger, reticle, target, the lot. I’ve recently uploaded a video of this sight with a 6X magnifier, that shows it a bit clearer 👍🏻

It’s not a “claim” With how the technology of a holographic system works is different than a reflex red dot like every other one. Only eotech and vortex (as far as I know 2/2023) are the only companies that manufacture a true holographic optic Everything else is just a laser emitter hitting glass.

It is a claim. The magnifier magnifies anything behind it. 1: think about it. How would the magnifying glass say oh this is holographic so I. Not gonna magnify it. 2: you can literally watch how small the reticle is non mag, then get bigger when. He switches it over. 3: since everything is magnified the dot is still 1 moa in relation to the target

@@bodybongholographic reticles don’t magnify because of the use of multiple prisms and glasses to display the reticle; red dots are just a laser hitting a mirror to project on glass, big difference

When you move farther away or closer to a holographic reticle the picture gets bigger or smaller, not so with a red dot it stays the same

Thanks for this very nice and clear POV. Can I ask, what you used to get such clear views? I've used all sorts of things, all of which have terrible image quality such as Aimcam 3K, Tactacam, and even GoPros in front of my field of view (which makes the actual shooting part impossible) I would use this in my own channel videos. Hello mate, just to check, are you running the riser with the G33? I have one without it and I don’t think it’s going to fit my EXPS. Will check though!

I was in this video. The standard magnifier mount should come with a riser plate and screws so you can run it with both XPS and EXPS models. Even without the riser plate you should get away with it though, the window on the EoTech is so big you have a lot of wiggle room for magnifier height. I’m currently running an EXPS3 on a Unity mount (2.23” height) with a 1.93” magnifier height and it works fine.

@@tomje7024 it’ll work fine without the riser plate, the magnifier will just sit a touch lower, but the image and accuracy etc. won’t be effected. If your G33 doesn’t have the riser plate I’d go direct to EoTech to see if they can sort you one. It should come with 2 longer screws as well. Good luck 👍🏻

Did the height of the magnifier bother you being a smidge lower than the exps? I just bought both combos together and seeing it on peoples builds got me a little ocd and I didn’t want to go full unity since I wanted to keep them pretty low.

I’ve gotten rid of this now but I seem to remember it came with a riser to use with both the xps2’s and the xps3’s that put it at the right height. But, I’ve used mags at different heights and I’ve never really found it an issue.
