I worked in Satyam. When ethics is compromisedat extreme level , this kind things happens. We need to ask him , is it worth to earn money at this cost. He must have paid heavy price for his mistake. But investor paid heavy price.

Raju's family was involved in Real estate much before the Satyam group was formed. They are known as a very benevolent family that invested in a lot of charities in their native district. Some of their schemes like the free ambulance service were taken up by the State and is still benefitting the people of both Telugu states. Satyam was a well-run company until a greedy congress govt lead by the father of the current CM came over and lured them into hyped-up real estate ventures. They were given access to the metro plan and asked to gulp up the properties surrounding the proposed metro route and channel the money to finance the politicians as the company would be awarded the project to construct the Metro. In fact, the metro project was awarded to them (Maytas) but in the process, the group got greedy and started inflating Satyam books for better stock prices to make the profits officially. If they were not a well-run company, they wouldn't have dared to list the ADR in the NYSE market to face strict audit/regulations. Of course, SEBI shouldn't have left the professional auditors so easily for not raising the red flags. Finally, he admitted to the scam on his own without delaying the case for decades by splashing money on the expensive lawyers. You also have to see the consequences - how the company was awarded to the new management that was virtually a failure in the software industry at that time.

There are few things I want to ask. 1st. I know a company can manipulate its quater results. But how can it shows this kind of profit for that much long time. It's was not a penny stock it was a part of nifty and sensex. We have many ca's investors, researchers, sebi how can they take these things normally. 2nd. What about the tax the company has paid by showing that much fake profit. Because in reality their was no profit but if you are showing the profit then you have to pay the tax. So from where the money comes??
