Ayeee. Caribbean food for the win! This was a great video. The camera transitions were smoother, the audio clear. Last episode there were moments which sounded dubbed, which were a little distracting. As for the content, this time it was cool to have a direct 'chat', and if the filming schedule permits, it should continue. This felt more... intimate, in a lovely way. Living in the Caribbean, Thanksgiving isn't as big of a production. We have a national holiday on my island, 🇱🇨 but the only people who are likely to go through the fuss of preparing a full dinner are probably expats. Hotels may have Thanksgiving themed meals for their guests (but don't quote me on that). The real grand celebration, happens around Christmas. There are traditions like the 'house-to-house' which I think are kept up more in rural communities in recent years. It's exactly as it sounds. People visit, eat, drink, then move on the the next. Friends may plan their own, and families theirs, but it's generally part of Christmas culture that - a guest vists, they get fed. As a child it was also the only time the butchering of livestock fascinated me, because it was likely to happen nearby. The rules on consuming certain drinks were different as well. We could get away with drinks like a Shandy, which has about 2% alcohol. It was seen as allowing younger ones to join in the 'cheer' but with no drink where alcohol would have an impact. Christmas is also the time where 'cannons' are made from bamboo plants. The number of children in the community who would be running around with singed eyebrows and eyelashes after Christmas was amusing to behold. As a child Christmas is a time of adventure and treats as an adult, the week between Christmas and New Years a complete twilight zone. Thanksgiving... not so much.

I almost ate a whole can of jelled organic cranberry sauce. My favorite thing about thanksgiving. Cranberry sauce was ordered to be a part of the military’s thanksgiving meal hundreds of years ago, that’s where it comes from. 🎉

I’m beginning to not like Thanksgiving either. It’s so much work and my brother suffered a traumatic brain injury last year so the holiday is not the same. He lives in California and always visited me in Texas for Thanksgiving 😢. Now it’s a constant reminder of what is missing. I love your show Dr. Wendy. Keep flying. ❤

I love Christmas, but I also love Thanksgiving. I love the family memories- relatives I don’t get to see a lot would visit (some of which who are now deceased 😢), and the fun things too. I remember having to say the grace, drinking sparkling cider out of these fall like glasses I have now inherited from my grandmother, setting the table with the fine china, the warm colors, watching the people talk about the game (now I’m the people lol), & just the smells of the food (namely desserts baking). I could always count on apple pie with vanilla ice cream and sock it to me cake on my mom’s side, and my Aunt Francis’ homemade cakes (strawberry on strawberry, and yellow cake with chocolate icing) on my dad’s side.

honestly dr wendy, the real housewives thanksgiving potluck special is a really good idea. but i have a little spin on it..i think it should be several housewives from different cities that each cook a dish that represents their cultural heritage and their family background and you’ll each have a portion where you’ll explain your dish, how it’s made, and what it means to you and then go into a brief conversation about your family/culture/what you’re thankful for etc. and then it’s on to the next person. and just to give an example…you (dr. wendy) will be cooking a nigerian dish, sanya (rhoa) jamaican, garcelle (rhobh) haitian, crystal (rhobh) chinese, angie (rhoslc) grecian, literally anyone from the cast of miami bc i believe most if not all of them are of latin or hispanic descent, and im sure there’s a lot more to choose from but i haven’t watched every franchise but i just wanted to provide an example of what i was trying to say.

Dr. Wendy's show is FUN, lol. I have to say, Dr. Wendy, as an expat now, Thanksgiving has evolved to become a spiritual meditation to remain connected to my American roots, about gratitude where we seriously focus on reflections of the past year, giving thanks for the triumphs as well as any difficulties, and always knowing that the best days are before us. As for turkey, JERK sounds like the bomb! Truthfully, I didn't find out until my 40s that the antidote to dry nasty turkey is to BRINE it (in a salt-sugar solution overnight, it traps the moisture inside the meat), and cranberry sauce should always be made from SCRATCH with REAL berries, like a sweet marmalade to compliment the meal. I turned my 80 year old southern mother onto brining for the last 4 years, and she's a raving convert, lol. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! 🍽🍽🍽
