Jazakallahu khairan katheeran Sheikha Dr. Haifa. This series is very helpful for reverts like me to learn deeper. Particularly reverts from non muslim countries need a guide like you. I am from India so your sessions are my main source to learn about Islam apart from Al-Qur'an. Alhamdulillah for your presence among us. May Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala continue to bring light into our spiritual life through you. Ameen.

EP 03: How Did We Come into Existence I The Qur'an Has It All I Sh Dr Haifaa Younis The Creation of Humanity and Lessons from Our Origin So now, we have learned why we are here and how this Earth came into existence. Now comes the most important question: How did we come into existence? Allah ﷻ has answered this question in detail in two places in the Quran. In the first place, He says: If you are in doubt about the Resurrection, then [consider that] We created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot, then from a lump of flesh, fully formed and unformed, in order to demonstrate [Our power] to you. And We settle in the wombs whatever We will for an appointed term, then We bring you forth as infants so that you may reach maturity. And among you is he who is taken in death, and among you is he who is returned to the most decrepit old age, so that he knows nothing after once having knowledge. And you see the earth barren, but when We send down upon it rain, it stirs to life and swells and produces every kind of delightful plant." (Surah Al-Hajj, 22:5) Where did we come from? We all descended from our Master, Adam (عليه السلام). In another verse, Allah ﷻ said: إِنَّ مَثَلَ عِيسَىٰ عِندَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ آدَمَ ۖ خَلَقَهُ مِن تُرَابٍ ثِمَّ قَالَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ "Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created him from dust; then He said to him, 'Be,' and he was." (Surah Aal-e-Imran, 3:59) This is how our origin begins. Adam (عليه السلام) was created from dust, and from him, Allah ﷻ created Eve (عليها السلام). In a hadith, the Messenger ﷺ said that Eve was created from the rib of Adam. While Adam was sleeping, Allah ﷻ created Eve from his rib. When he awoke, he found her and was very happy, reflecting the inherent human nature that we cannot live alone. The Arabic word for human, insan, is derived from uns, which means solace and companionship. The Stages of Human Creation The stages of human creation are beautifully detailed in the Quran. Allah ﷻ created Adam (عليه السلام) from dust, and from him, all humanity emerged. The creation of a human being, as described in the Quran, progresses through several stages: 1. Sperm (نطفة): Human beings are created from a fluid that originates from the man and is deposited within the woman during their intimate relationship. Millions of sperm cells are released, but only one fertilizes the egg, forming a nutfah. 2. Clinging Clot (علقة): This fertilized egg, over seven days, travels through the fallopian tube and attaches itself to the wall of the uterus, becoming a 'alaqah, or clinging clot. This stage is marked by a blood-like appearance. 3. Lump of Flesh (مضغة): The 'alaqah then transforms into a mudghah, a lump of flesh that resembles a chewed substance. This stage occurs within the first eight weeks of pregnancy. 4. Formation of Bones and Flesh: Allah ﷻ then creates bones within the mudghah and subsequently covers them with flesh (muscles). By the eighth week, the embryo is fully formed and is now referred to as a fetus. 5. The Fetus (جنين): From this point until the end of the pregnancy, the fetus grows and develops, gaining features like hearing and sight. This process is a reminder of our humble origins and the stages we undergo before entering this world. The Message Behind Our Creation This detailed account of human creation is not just a lesson in embryology; it carries a profound message for us as human beings: * Humility: Remembering our origins from dust and a mere drop of fluid should instill humility in us. Despite our achievements, we should never forget where we came from and that we will eventually return to the earth. * Faith and Reflection: The Quran is not merely a book of science, even though it contains many scientific truths. The primary purpose of the Quran is to teach us about Allah ﷻ, to know Him, and to understand our place in His creation. Reflecting on the stages of human creation should strengthen our faith and remind us of Allah's greatness. As Allah ﷻ said: مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَىٰ "From it (the earth) We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will bring you forth another time." (Surah Ta-Ha, 20:55) This verse serves as a powerful reminder of our origin, our journey in this life, and our eventual return to Allah ﷻ. The Quran, while containing profound scientific insights, ultimately guides us to recognize and worship our Creator, leading us to a deeper understanding of our purpose in this life and beyond.
