EP 042 - Universals Islands of Adventure, June 1999

The park had been only open for one month. I'm sure if you go to the park today you would see a big difference from what it was like at the date of recording in 1999.

I visited the park around the same time as you filmed this. It was such a special place. Still is but there was a magical feeling that came with experiencing it for the first time.

I really love this video! Could you upload the uncut version of the Dueling Dragons queue line if you have? It was such an amazing detailed castle. And you are the one who filmed it in excellent quality! Colors in your video are so vivid even in the dark. Extremely rare footage and I am sure it will get a lot of views. I was there back in 2005 but unfortunately I didn't film it. It was my second coaster in my life (Hulk was my 1st coaster). When I left the park I had no idea that I said goodbye to the dragons forever.

Did the high in the sky trolley used to be cars?

They were to open as single cars to have 4 seats per ride vehicle. Not a full length train.

If a single RV broke down, the idea to get the guest back to the station was to have the RV behind it to push it back. A good idea to do that, but if a wheel or drive train of RV was broken badly the pushing RV wouldn't have the power to do it. There were other problems with the track lay out as it didn't have any EVAC stairs with platforms and in some areas a high reach could get people out of the RV's as it was over the water. So here are a few reasons the ride was shut down for so long after IOA was open.
