EP. 05 Make MONEY Woodworking: Pallet Wood Wine Racks (Simple Projects to Sell)

This is episode 5 of the Woodworking Monetized channel. SInce all the wood was free pallet wood, this project launched the ongoing purse to just shy of $800!

I like it but I think the dowel spoils the look in the front board, If I was to build this I'd do everything the same but use the nails from the pallets to attach the front board to keep with the aged look.

Another great project, thanks for posting! I'm wondering if you think this could work by cutting a pallet apart such that you would have the majority of it pre-made and than just have to add the bottom section to hold the glasses. This occured to me because to get those pieces of pallet wood would have cost you a fair amount of time and you are then putting them back almost into the same position as they would have started.

What amke countersink drill bit are you using please ?

I can really remember. Some inexpensive one at Home Depot. Not sure if they still carry it

You could do something similar to make a beer bottle caddy. That would sell well

Was there a reason for using gorilla glue here rather than normal wood glue?

Not at all. I bought that bottle for a previous episode and then bought a gallon bottle of glue and am reusing that gorrilla glue bottle. At the time, the gorilla glue must have been less expensive than the competition at the big box store. Thanks for the question!

ok new here. I do think i need to direct you to pallet selection and free pallets could be battery type or also pesticide treated. theres a website to know the codes for pallets. just a thought as some poeple could end up with bad pallets. research the codes on the pallet to make sure its safe to use

Thanks for the question. Lifetime sales for these wine racks is about 8. Since posting this video, I've sold 3/6. I think these are a tougher sell because people are hesitant to drill holes into their walls. If I were you, I'd build 2-3 and see how they sell in your area. Let me know how it goes.

​@@makemoneywoodworking Thanks for your feedback! Thats what I was thinking. I think ill make 2 tonight and post them for $40. I'm also chewing on the idea of making one out of new wood and staining gray. A grain stain has been pretty popular for me lately. Just not sure if the price point is going to be high enough to justify the materials + labor.

That might work. As you build other items, this wine rack might be one you'll be able to make out of left over pieces as they aren't too big, rather than spending money on material and cutting into your profits.
