I come back to this game every few and tend to play for about 2-3 weeks hard. Super happy to see a knowledgeable well spoken youtuber to help me get back rolling. The pacing was a bit fast for me, but I suspect that is only due to me being rusty. I only can hope you will continue to put out content since there seems to be a market for it despite this game being 2 years younger than me. I also noticed there is a subreddit for the game with some activity. Glad to see the community branching out to modern platforms. Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to more videos.

Thanks so much for making the videos! I've enjoyed TTD back in the 90's but since then I've tried to play OpenTTD so many times but just can't get into it again. Great so far. Looking forward to more. It’s really helpful that you’re explaining why you’re doing each step. I’m one of those people whose played TTD ALOT but never like really learned those ‘hidden’ mechanics in the game to really optimize things. I just built basic L_R networks and eventually bottleneck when towns got too big. I’ve always wanted to do a cargo game but I can be daunting to start, and I’m never sure what settings and NewGRFs to use for it.

OpenTTD Industries production high with long trains first, work or there be breakdowns later ? Terraforming taking out most hills ? If you look the first coal route you just pass by a much closer powerstation ?Power stations have a maximum take, else delivered useless ? TTD playd I may have been out for to long. What you say about resticting road built by the local towns is interesting. Hope this Let´s play will last for a long time !
@LugnutsK5 жыл бұрын
I have breakdowns off, causes too much trouble when there are a lot of trains. I avoid terraforming too much. I use the realistic acceleration model so slopes aren't a problem as long as the trains don't have to stop and restart on them. And for the power station, you get paid more $$ the farther you transport the cargo so farther is better (unintuitive, but thats how OpenTTD works). I hope it lasts a long time too, thanks for your comment!

Yiy! The much anticipated Lets Play! I had no problems following so far, but as you get into more and more advanced networks it would be good if you slow down a bit to explain your decision making (why a bridge, why this signal, why connect at a certain point) As an other comment already said: time lapses over cuts and maybe highlight what you have done a little bit afterwards. Try and talk a bit more about the train and industry NewGRF's, I have never used them and have no idea how they work. Other than that: I have never looked forward to a lets play series as much as this one. Why do you set the trains to unload at the far side of the station?
@LugnutsK5 жыл бұрын
Good suggestions, will do. Also good question, I don’t have any reason I’m using far end, near end is probably a better choice. But no difference as long as the station length match train lengths.

No wrong way to play as long as you're having fun :). Best way to learn shortcuts is to just roller your fingers across "qwer", "asd", "1234" and see what each of those do -- I use all of those for rail building, signals, terraforming, and demolition. Also "x" for toggling transparency, "b" for bridges and "t" for tunnels. Other big ones is or + clicking, for auto-building signals, bridges, and orders. Learned some new order ones from viewers

I don't know if you'll see this, but do stations have a built in path signal?
@LugnutsK4 жыл бұрын
Good question. Stations do NOT have a build-in path signal. However when trains turn around they will try to reserve paths if they are in a block with path signals. So effectively, terminus stations have path signals because the trains turn around.

Main Hotkeys I use: A - rail tool, S - signals, D - demolish, R - red/remove, q/w/e - raise/lower/level, t - tunnel, b - bridge, x - toggle transparency. ctrl-drag for placing signals, ctrl-click for cycling signals, ctrl-click for shared order cloning trains, ctrl-click for full load orders, ctrl-click to stop/start trains, and probably a lot other things. You can learn a lot of them by just clicking random keys and try ctrl-clicking things. wiki.openttd.org/Hotkeys I have bridge transparency turned on so I can see signals and tracks underneath them. Early game it doesn't matter so much, but for big hubs it's pretty necessary. For the factories, it's done by city name, so if the its "Kefingfield Factory" and "Kefingfield Power Plant" they will be connected. Thanks for watching!
