Good to see you both back. Chris, that nug you found made the same sound and was the same depth as the nug I found in w'burn. I called a .22 casing, turned out to be a 3.25g nug. I don't understand where the gold is coming from. In California, the gold was brought up from the colliding plate subduction zone creating the Sierra-Nevada mountains and the gold formed in cracks along with quartz. In Nevada, it was from mid-plate volcanism, presumably the Yellowstone hot spot moving through the area millions of years ago, creating hot springs and bringing the gold up. My question is, what was the mechanism for getting gold nuggets laying around out in the outback? There doesn't even seem to be the quartz that is normally associated with locating gold, just a lot of what appears to be red sandy soil. Was it volcanism like during the break up of the super continent Pangea?

Thanks Kef but we don tuse them because thye dont react unless right on the nugget and dont have much depth to them, so easier and quicker with the coil.

@@thegoldgypsies. they are very handy when you do have a big target in the hole and cant pinpoint easy due to halo effect. Saved me widening a hole the other day after getting a ft down. Wouldnt want to club a chunk!
