The closing part was intended to reaffirm that Luffy was not Joyboy himself, but he was the idea, not his reincarnation. Hence he states still he's Monkey D. Luffy and how his goal is to be king of the pirates (Luffy goal), not free the world (Joyboy). Luffy is Luffy, but he's the reincarnation of the IDEA of Joyboy, not a reincarnation of the person. People can die, but ideas live forever is represented 🐢❤

I agree. I feel like a few people share Joyboy characteristics, Roger being one example - his will living on through people likeminded. Is the will that's inside of the devil fruit Nika? Or is it Joyboy's? Or did Joyboy just have the fruit? I'm guessing that the will of Nika gravitates to Joyboy-like mindsets, and Joyboy was just one holder of the power - taking 800 years to find it's way to the next suitable wielder..? Sorry for all the questions, the lore's fascinating but I'm still trying to figure stuff out. This is just speculation, but part of me wants to believe that just as much as the fruit becomes a part of the body of the user.. the wielder of the devil fruit's spirit/essence (or will) becomes a part of the fruit's next reincarnation at death - basically accumulating and ensuring a part of their will lives on. I think it's poetic lol

@ 4:37 was that a reference to Skypeia and Nika as well, when Luffy's shadow could be seen in the clouds from the sea?
