EP 11: We Grout the Tile + Build Our First Cabinet!! | OUR DREAM KITCHEN RENOVATION

We finally installed the last tile! This week we also install all the edge profiles for the exposed edges of the tile along with some beautiful oak board accents. I make a custom return vent using my router as well. Once that was complete, we could grout the entire floor. It started off a little dark, but as it dried, it was the perfect shade of beige. It was then time to build our first cabinet! We have waited so long for this moment and are so excited to get to this phase of the project. Next week, we might just have all the cabinets built! Yes that’s the right option. A milk glass obscures the bulb. It’ll look amazing with that wood and tile. I do love the checkered tile, something I never considered before. Classic and timeless.

Definitely right choice on lighting. Everything is looking great. You guys need to pick up a Breville Barista Touch for your new kitchen. I make latte’s at home that are quite frankly better than any I have ever bought although I’m sure there may be better shops out there. I order my Beans from Methodical. Tried a bunch of different roasters and Methodical is the best I have found.

Cutting 1/2" from the bottom lowers your toe kick, it probably wont be noticeable to most, will wait to see what is next to that pantry cabinet.

Great point! I thought about cutting off the top but it would impact the face frame too. I went with the bottom since we will have our fridge to the right of pantry and the toe kick starts again to the right of the fridge. It was only 1/4” so to notice a difference you’d have to go and measure on your hands and knees 😅 Good catch!

TBH, grout made tiles look better but the tiles and it’s layout is so 90’s / outdated but as long as you guys love it. I like the cabinet colors and pendant lights.

😂 The camera only captures a fraction of the process. I had to measure everything, cut the rabbet, dial in the depth, scribe the board, cut the scribe, cut a back bevel on the board, design the vent detail, sketch it out on the board, plan out the shot list for the next round of filming, set up the camera, hook up the mics, adjust lighting, etc… 😅
