Those fwd netting beam sockets certainly look bloody sturdy! Good job Guy. Thanks for posting

Another impressive belt and braces proper job. Funny I have just removed my front beam (it was massive, ugly and very heavy) filled in the half moon and installed 7mm wire across the bows instead. So far there's been no noticeable negagatives as far as sailing performance goes. If indeed the bows can now move towards each other more readily and cause momentary slackening of the forestay, Its kind of a drop in the ocean in terms of loss of perfomance with a Wharram. One thing the spar was good for that i miss though is that when Med mooring with the bows into the dock to keep the vulnerable rudders away from the concrete, is a place to land the passarelle.

Thanks for the input, if it doesn't add much to the weight i don't mind beefing things up on structural areas. I never really thought about the slackening of the fore-stay, interesting(i never actually sailed it prior to haul out :). Med stile mooring access will be handy. the biggest motivator will be the inclusion of a furling Genoa up forward and possibly a sprit pole? I'm wanting to be able to sail it single handed (not solo).Cheers
