Stephanie & Philip from @TheChateauDiaries join Vivienne & Simon of @ChateauLove as garden party guests of the owner of the Château du Clos Lucé (former home of Leonardo da Vinci) for the grand opening of its new interactive art gallery. It is a magnificent day filled with Renaissance art, decor, food, inventions, gardens, and a great deal of frivolity!!
ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, pets, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 20 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Since my first enthralling visit to Chateau Clos Luce, 35 yrs ago I was in love with this Chateau and Leonardo Da Vinci. Thank you so much for this fabulous visit of the new beautiful gardens and art gallery although I find it a strange outlook to make fun of people's noses in portraits and the flaws in inventions of a genius. The ending of the vlog was most surreal and peaceful with the beautiful sky filled with balloons and the gorgeous gardens empty of tourists. Great vlog.

I really enjoyed seeing Leonardo’s ideas for the future. He was truly a man ahead of his time so intuitive and creative. As I watched I realized he was such an innovator and gifted man.His ideas laid a platform and the blueprints of all these wonderful machines to come about. What a magnificent mind. I feel I just watched what you call his scientific laboratory for the future. But most of all when I saw that machine it looked like a flying saucer it was almost a replica of the landing module for John Glenn to land in the water from the moon.
