This was awsome to listen to and also really great to hear your experiences especially about the business side of things. Really cool to hear you all got to sit ,listen and ask questions that probably other manufacturers wouldn't even allow or answer. Was there any questions or suggestions in regards to how they will launch and market their future games? My opinion / take: What they did with you guys and the other 30 people that got invited is what they should do for now on when they are going to release a new game with the exception of inviting distributors. Invite everyone to the factory and unveil the machines like a car show. Its cool to hear Stern funded some of your trip but they dont need to do that for the unvieling. A simple invite like you guys got is really all that is needed. All in all it sounds like an amazing day in Chicago, many things learned and the future sounds promosing!

Glad you enjoyed the listen Vic!. As far as in the future, all I was told was this was a test run to see how things went. They didn't discuss if they would do this again or if they did, that it would be similar to what they did this time. My hope is like your suggestion. Do an unveiling party per release and do an invite.

Im glad they brought Arcade Matt, he has a huge following. Matt is big into pinball, just not on his channel. I know he plays alot in Pittsburgh. He also volunteered/attended the last few Pinburghs and was a score keeper for the Intergalactic Tournament.

Yeah he's into the competitive scene there and was a really nice dude. He was very approachable. I'm glad he was there.

Great insight and honest evaluation of the experience and info stern shared with you all. This is exactly what people needed to hear and be reminded of. Perhaps this will silence the loudmouth supposed marketing types who think they know more about the pinball industry and honestly are doing much more harm than good by spreading misinformation just to earn patreon dollars for themselves. This experience shows how big you have to think when it comes to BoM and the final price tag vs looking at the machine itself. Would love to hear more about their insights behind three models and the volumes and prices for each. I do believe when you look at how drastic they changed game play between pro/prem for a machine like venom vs how few distinctions there are with the wick versions… are they designing a prem/LE and then “dumbing it down” to reduce cost and mechs for operators at the risk of drastically changing game play or is there ever a way to do that without compromising their initial gameplay vision?

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I agree, i wish they would have given us a little more insight into the different modes and how the breakdown of the BoM affects those models. But the whole experience really was like drinking from a fire hydrant. At the end of the conference, Gomez asked if anyone had any questions. I was sitting there still trying to process everything I had heard and couldn't think of any questions because of it.

Thought John Wick looked pretty cool and then played it and also thought it was pretty cool. I think it’s a fast, hard, but fun.

Amazing. It's a tiny tiny amount of data per home/per location. Entries only get updated when a person surpasses a new high score. You are talking about sending 8 bytes of data once every day per location at best. Mind blowing that this costs more than a $150 server to perform all the work for the entire world of insider connected, whether owned inside Stern HQ or at Amazon.

Do you know how much is the cost of developing a Pinball machine for Stern (without licensing)??, I heard may be 2 to 4 million dolar? Thanks!, greetings from Buenos Aires 🙂

We don't know any solid numbers. They just told us the development cost varies based on different requirements.

Nothing too surprising - great company making an awesome product. But I am just not good enough for John Wick man haha. Code is kind of in an embarrassing state. Modes all feel the same, about 2 callouts, and very confusing what you should hit, especially during multiballs. Tons of shots throw your ball into the slings, car chucks the ball stdm, and don’t even think about missing or getting a half ramp. Kiitos also has the tilt set tight. Absolute quarter eater. Was not a fan. Ramps 10/10 though and game looks fantastic.
