I thought it was so fevered childhood dream of mine,I remember,I would tell myself,that I seen Dad and his friend playing this,couldn't remember the name,but only the concept,see I was born eighty four,lowl and behold I type in Pirate ship boarding game on a whim and whammy,a nostalgia bomb goes off,thank you.

I think you can remove the masts when it gets to the boarding part since they are no longer in play. I had this game and loved everything about it, the ships, pieces, board, box, booklets and easy to learn gameplay. I had it under my bed when the bathroom sink pipe on the other side of the wall had a slow leak. The carpet got soaked and ruined the box and board. It was in near mint condition before that too. I moved it to my parents garage long ago. I'm pretty sure it's still there. I should salvage the plastic pieces. I also have Conquest of the Empire and it's cool but there's too many rules to keep track of for me.

Very cool game! This is the only one in the Gamemaster series I don't have. I want to save up and get this at some point. I'm currently playing Shogun with my father, took about an hour to set up and we've probably put in 3-4 hours of gameplay so far. Long game to play but I'm enjoying it.
