I am an amateur restorer myself, mostly furniture and automotive, so I really enjoy that aspect. I have been in tactical military aircraft maintenance my whole career, as a hobby I enjoy learning about the nautical world. It is quite different from where I spend my days and this helps me to escape and relax. This makes these videos doubly enjoyable.

What I love about this project? Well, about all’osteria everything! With all your dedicated work you are preserving heritage. Seeing you at work, brings me back to the days of black and white movies , ladies in evening dresses, man in tuxedo’s and evening sunsets…… As the (femele😊)owner of an historic tugboat here in The Netherlands I do know very well how much work and dedication it takes to keep it afloat. With or without a T-shirt: I am cheering you on all the way from the other side of the ocean!! Lots of greetings and blessings! Chantal

I was born on the water and it's in me to the core. That said I feel good about folks saving old boats that are destined for scrap. Anyone should know they are usually ten times the project than most are capable of completing. The fact you, obviously having means and brains enough to even aquire a vessel of this magnitude would choose such a massive task is great to see. It's not practical and may not even be sane but we are who we are and love seeing this girl coming back in fashion. Great job and good luck.

Plus if you ever start working on the engines I would recommend the KZbinr HeavyDSparks. He has worked with other KZbinrs and works with large diesel engines. Interesting message in two topics. The Island Princess is the vessel I believe you are referring to and was the most used vessel in the filming of the Love Boat. Keep watching as the Aurora has a ton of furniture and artwork from that vessel that we are slowly restoring to showcase aboard the Aurora. Heavy D has a great channel. I watch some of his content every now and again. That would certainly be an interesting match.

I love cruising and I once wrote to you to see if you knew anything more about the SS Oceanic and you responded to my question. I was so surprised and pleased that you took the time to do that. I just recently found two photos that were taken of me on that ship and had a good laugh, because all the photos I had were black and white ones and so faded out and these two were taken by the photographer on board and made it. I am loving watching this restoration and wish I could see it, but that won't happen because I am not so sure I will still be on this earth for that one. Not because of the progress you are making, but because of my age. I would love to see her sailing out to sea.

The more we work the more we will produce videos. I’m trying to get to around two videos per week. Maybe a short video and a longer video or two medium videos. Guess time will tell but at least every Sunday 2pm pst

This channel is great because you're taking a real classic beauty of a ship and restoring her to her former glory one weld or bucket of paint at a time and we get to watch. Plus it's educational--we learn about the history of Aurora and some of the basics of the restoration work you're doing.

As they say. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Or in this case,,, One big bite at a time. Glad your enjoying what we’re doing. Stick around, It gets a lot better.

When I saw the blocked tube in the rain I immediately though what you need a wider tube that's somewhat rectangular in shape to keep its appearance neat, yet flow more efficiently. It's great to watch the restoration and efficient progress being made and as you said reusing the same steel from the ship for a purpose like this means to get to keep the originality as much as is feasibly possible. Any detailed restoration work is not easy, however there really is only one way to do it,,,,, the correct way, as you are doing.

It kind of worked out that I had that piece of steel on hand long enough to work maybe 3 scupper on each side. Glad to know we are like minded in project mode. Thanks for watching..

It’s so cool to see a ship from an era when things were slower and simpler coming back to life. Living on the north shore of Lake Erie certainly doesn’t afford it a much opportunity to see these beautiful vessels so channels like yours are the only way I get to see them. All the best to you and your crew, I look forward to seeing every new video and each project completed

I love that you decided to save this boat from what assuredly would have been it's untimely demise. Despite it being an absolutely monumental undertaking, you had faith that you would succeed. Now you have a great team behind you and are steamrolling ahead. I look forward to the next episode.

This This is one of the best restoration channels on KZbin. Your dedicated ambition to save the ship from an otherwise certain death makes you a hero. Saving a piece of history is no easy task, but so appreciated. Your total transparency through the process makes me look forward to each new episode feeling with you and the team in the ups and downs of the project and listening to your calm, pleasant and captivating voice. Keep up the good work and all the love to you.

Let’s be honest, what’s not to like. You are saving a beautiful historic ship from certain decay and rot if you and your wonderful crew had not decided to take on this huge project. And from what I’m seeing, you’re going to make it better than it ever was and a living, working museum of nautical history.

Thanks Gary, A museum is definitely part of the goal. If I spend all of my money and never make a dime from this project then I’m still proud to have save this iconic ship at all costs.

the thing that i love about this project is that you don't need a shipyard to restore a ship, you just need a plasmacutter, welder, grinder and a lot of people!

Because it wasn’t restored at a shipyard, it finally sank. Cosmetics aboard don’t save the ship.

You may find it better to use U channel for your scuppers rather than the tube. You will find that the tube no matter what size can get blocked plus it's almost impossible to paint the inside of it correctly to prevent rust. Love that you guys are restoring this classic ship.
