Ep.19 - Gone to the Birds with Andrew Kellaway

Rugby podcasters Brett McKay and Harry Jones are joined on The 8-9 Combo by now-former Melbourne Rebels, and Wallabies fullback Andrew Kellaway in that small post-Super Rugby Pacific window and before things really step up properly through the international season, with the Wales series now less than three weeks away.
In this week’s episode, the boys get a great insight into the Rebels ‘mourning period’ as they go their separate ways post-decision, how the Wallabies pre-squad training has been working and how many highlight clips he has to send to Joe Schmidt, and some really good ideas around what can be done to enhance the downtime in rugby and the lessons that could be learned from the NFL. Plus there’s an early preview of the Super Rugby Pacific Final between the Blues and the Chiefs.

this is a great podcast guys..........For me the biggest issue with Rugby is the rolling maul near the try line.......the most trys are scored by Hookers!!!! the stop start of rugby is great and adds to the tension. The World Cup was easily the best we have seen, with a couple of the games could have been the best games of all time. For the casual observer, the rolling maul 5M out is a try most times.....it is also terrible watching. If the rules allowed it to be a true contest where anything goes, as rugby used to be, would be a huge move in the right direction. Rugby needs to take direction from the NFL. Viewers dont care about the delay, as long as the game is decided with the ball in play. ALSO: please talk about rugby administration in Australia being run by old rugger buggers.....The AFL, and NRL CEO's have never played the game at any serious level. When John O'Neil ran rugby in Australia, it was at its peak. We need serious business/sports people running a multi Million dollar business. Remember when Rugby Australia rejected Andrew Johns playing rugby!!!!! his first name was Brett.....what a goose. Please talk about the Administrators
