Why this fellow who tries to find fault or some shady reason in each of Karna’s good attitude do not think in a way that Karna might have said this caz he knows Bishma can choose his death and he is very powerful as well and he is eldest and everyone revere Bishma and follow his words. But there were many kings who still saw Karna as low born and not equal, example Shalya. So Bishma being head of army is important. But Bishma will not allow Karna to fight freely and their fights of words will bring the morale down of the Kuru side, Karna knows all this so he might have decided to skip the battle till Bishma is there just for the benefit of whole army.
