you guys are right, hockey is too damn expensive! I'm just glad that I live in Minnesota, we don't have to play the AAA and Academy game. You are kind of stuck where you live but the leagues are solid. The MN Model, community based nonprofit, volunteer ran associations, produces a lot of high end players, so the system seems to work and is affordable. I'm not a huge fan of these private leagues as I feel like they just drive the price of the sport up and up. The cost of hockey is going to be its downfall

In MN thru high schools you guys do it right, this 30-50k a year to shelter kids in an academy is so stupid! Kid eventually has to come out! WHL draft is a big crap shoot at 14-15 then kids signing and gambling on future and missing out on ncaa and an education is even crazier unless your a phenom! The rules with CHL and NCAA are going to change! A WHL kid is done at 18-20 some NCAA kids are just starting! Varsity u15-17 in the CSSHL are just a money grab for FOMO parents sheltering their lil super stars!

Friend's friend kid just went there, for girls high school hockey. 65k usd is affordable?

@@MrGamman3yt where? Shattuck? If so that’s the #1 rated private prep school in the country. They don’t even play in the high school league. 90% of our high schools are public and playing high school hockey is free like all other school sports. Some schools have a small athletic participation fee which is between $100 and $500 per family per year.

@@MrGamman3yt the most expensive level of hockey is bantams and depending on your association it ranges from $500-$3,000 per season depending on the association. My association is $1,900 but warroad is 100% free to play hockey from age 3 through high school. My son is a mite U9 in Canada and his hockey this year is $350 for the season, that is 2-4 practices a week, 25 games and 3 tournaments. It also includes his equipment. Everything but a stick and under garments

Time on ice doesn’t equate to more development! Your top players are going to play in AAA! The CSSHL gets lots of FOMO parents or I’ll show those WHL scouts their wrong about my kid! Hockey parents love to be sold something! 😮CSSHL great place to shelter kids!

My daughter is in U13, and her edges are great. Her shot is impeccable. She fast but her hockey sense and stick handling is lacking. Shes very coachable and ive coached her until now i decided id get another coach to see if she can grow. She was cut from AA because of it. Theres a huge skill gap between AA and A in our area. It's upsetting because How does she grow to see 4 steps ahead? I've tried and tried, but there's just not enough time on the ice before it gets lost or confusing.

Where do we get her the exposure? Sherwood Park, Alberta
@MrGamman3ytАй бұрын
Lol, you are in Alberta. Listen to what they say, if you are good, she will be found. Imagine if she was in Arizona? Lol, unless of course you don't 'fit the mold' there was a short girl who was on ? Nait basketball team, LED the LEAGUE in scoring 2 YEARS in a row. In a freaking row. I think she went to UofA. Undrafted. It was decades ago. Super sad. That AA kid, must have led the league in scoring, or something. If, your kid is as good as she is, 1 extra year gaining confidence, dominating the league is a good thing. So, 300 days from now, she'll have gotten looks from all the teams above, because of the dominance. Oh, also, sign up for skills sessions during year with a decently connected coach. They can open doors. And spring teams. If she's that good, 'only' being AA (or whatever), then when on ice with peers, it will be noticeable. Spring/summer they loosen rules, kids +/- 3yrs can play w each other. Honestly, skills coaching on teams doesn't exist in hockey canada much. If it's a "burried year", do tons of bicycle tire pumping with weekly power skating, figure skating, rugby, badmington, anything to challenge and get better. Heck, even piano. Yes, piano. Signed a father of a kid who's worked his way from div7 atom to almost u18aaa this year. It was about 6yrs of "wow, did he ever get placed low" thoughts, followed by dominance (showing bad placement). Guy they kept on AAA, son was last cut, just got pulled in his first game, after 2 periods. 7-8 goals ~25shots. Keep your head up.

This was a great episode and I generally enjoy and appreciate the content of this channel. However, listening to both of you deflect the nepotism that clearly happens in hockey is a disservice to both you and your talented kids. CHL teams often send out pre draft survey’s for players to complete and one of the first questions is ‘has an immediate family member ever played in CHL or NHL’ Clearly indicating these connections/genetics do matter. To say in one breath that your son was on the ice with NHLers through your business at 7 and then claim that your career and connections had nothing to do with your son’s path affects your credibility. Both things can be true, your career and connections can influence opportunities AND your player worked hard and deserved the opportunity based on his own merit. You seem like intelligent and reasonable fellows and maybe some reflection on this is warranted. It is almost insulting to folks to say nepotism in hockey doesn’t exist. Better to acknowledge that it does and face it head on.
