I am old enough to remember that event where the Iranian woman placed the noose around her son's neck. I read it in the news. I also remember during the Northern Irish "troubles", late 1970's, some people were going on hunger strikes. There was a young son who was on a hunger strike, but as he was only days away from death, he seemed to change his mind and wanted to live. The son asked his father for food, but his father said "now now laddie, there will be no more talk of food". The man denied his own son life giving food! - and so the son died. That story sent cold chills in my heart - cruelty. That poor young man wanted to live.

More people need to see this. I think it's extremely hard for people in a free society to believe that the freedoms that they hold dear can be taken away from them so easily. People have taken freedom for granted in the Western world and in their slumber they are losing it a little more every day. I pray that people wake up and pay attention before it's too late!

Thanks for this session. Particularly ending with the link between the social and political psychology with real life experiences of people like Solzhenitsyn and Viiktor Frankl, who understood the process of survival in extremely difficult situations. I would also like to include others who responded by finding new ways to craft political stories that reviewed facts, reinterpreted the truths and creating new meanings in challenging situations. Stories that inspired their generations to seek values that helped usher in social and political changes in a desirable direction in their own societies at different moments in the 20th century. Among such leaders were Gandhi in India, Martin Luther King Jr. in the US, and Nelson Mandela in South Africa.

I have a thought on the question posed at 45:25. It's the temperament of the people that decided. Read the Righteous Mind by Haidt. The characteristics of the people in one group presets them for the atomization and following formation.

How the division occurs: people choose to trust radically different , and opposing sources. Eg.: youtube vs MSM (CNN/BBC/NYT, etc.) This is usually because we avoid who we believe is lying the most.

in Berlin, the local health administration (Gesundheitsamt) called teenagers who tested positive for covid, to ask them who in their school are students who oppose mask wearing (by name).😱🤯💩

Thanks for the re-upload, much easier to listen to and much appreciated. It's nice that you push back a little but in a respectful manner, it expands the discussion in way that other podcasts miss out on. Would you consider inviting Anders Tegnell or Paul Offit or ZDoggMD on to your podcast? I think they would be great. :-)

Your description of understanding the essence after the technical perfectly describes the representation of the Christian trinity and how it became revealed historically.

When u study the inhabitants of the planet, u understand that all are fallible therefore the trust is in question all the time. The suspicion is always there, and it should be there, make no mistake.

amazing. i just have one doubt or disagreement: isn't the continued speaking out theory of resistance very idealistic and considered from a place of privilege and even immunity, real or perceived? isn't that begging for conflict, simply because of the nature of speech? the original spiritual response to limitations of the sensual world seems to be much more withdrawal of the sphere of interest from the sensual world and it's labels and solutions.

Why would it not be the case that the people who avoid the grip of a Mass Formation simply lack the required preconditions of loneliness, lack of meaning making, and free-floating anxiety, frustration, aggression?
@alexk48
@alexk48 Жыл бұрын
Maybe we are simply aware of experiencing the preconditions and deal with them differently. We observe them in others around us. I firmly believe internal locus of control and religious faith account for the immunity. After all, religion requires you to look inside for your own defects, an examination of conscience the Catholics call this. Those in the claws of mass formation look outside themselves to solve their problems.

@@alexk48 Yes. I think we are saying similar things. We avoid the required strength of preconditioning by being more aware using whatever techniques we find effective.

I appreciate his insight, but aren’t all status quo assumptions „mass formations“ which have become normalized and conditioned. And if status quo assumptions merely normalized mass formations of the past, then should we not challenge past mass formations which seem not to serve humanity as a whole? And when others agree is that not a mass formation as well. In other words I think there ought to be a distinction made between the agency and intentions behind mass formations. In the case of Covid restrictions the mass formation was manipulated for cynical Gain, the mass formation that the earth revolves around the sun rather than the sun revolving around the earth has aided in a better understanding of the Universe. But very few percentage have tested heliocentric idea, it is believed primarily tested secondarily. The point is that not all mass formation may be bad. The heliocentric view totalizes society. A new scientific discovery will not necessarily be accepted, it may or may not be true. But there is a point it may become conventional knowledge.
