Something I found to stop water from the dogs dish is a shoe/boot tray. It has enough depth that water won’t run over the edge and you can usually find one in a colour to match your decor. Just a thought.

I'm not a big fan of open plan spaces, but my goodness you guys have built essentially the only type that I love! My compliments on the design, the space is already so beautiful!!
@priscillacordero81335 күн бұрын
My home is an open floor plan in main area. It's a smaller house so without it, it would feel way too small! I prefer the open plans now.
@caoimhenimhuireadhaigh13035 күн бұрын
@priscillacordero8133 I find them to be noisy, without anywhere to hide from the mess and smell made from cooking dinner, and lacking when it comes to two or more individuals occupying themselves separately. I will always have a fully enclosed kitchen, and at least one fully enclosed snug or sitting room. I also find that they make small homes even less useable, as they leave you with less wall space to put things against (bookcases, paintings etc)
@priscillacordero81335 күн бұрын
@caoimhenimhuireadhaigh1303 good thing there are designs for everyone's taste. I have 3 enclosed rooms, an enclosed laundry, and attached garage. Nice size backyard and small front porch area. 10 ft walls so plenty of space for art. I don't like too much furniture. My next house will have even less furniture.

Can you all do an episode or mini-episode of how you live during the renovation? My husband and I struggle to have a "normal routine" when we are in the process of fixing something in the house. I'm curious about how you all balance everything. Do you cook or is uber eats on speed dial everyday? Do you ever have to turn off the power to the house to accomplish things? When do you all walk the dogs? Where do you all hang out and watch tv when the living room is under construction? And do you ever have days when one partner feels like continuing on the project but the other does feel like getting up to renovate? I would love to see the BTS of renovation life!

To clean the grooves in the floor, try a floor broom with soft bristles. Think of it as a giant toothbrush. They are made to go in the grooves. I used to use a regular plastic broom on wet floor and then microfiber the water up. It was some dirty water. The basic broom did more than a regular mop, but was not as good as the pool brush like floor cleaning ones.

I’ve been watching your channel for about a year now and I’m amazed at the levels of skill you both display with all the of the tasks you undertake🎉. The other thing I really love about the two of you is that you seem to discuss every thing and usually come to an agreement each time; may I ask whether you edit out the bits where you disagree or are the two of you as compatible as you appear to be. You remind me of me and my husband, being so compatible is the most important thing to a happy, contented marriage or partnership and obviously a beautiful home. You are so lucky to have so much land and such a big house, enjoy every second of your lives together as well as appreciating all of your surroundings. I wish you blessings and every success in your endeavours.❤

I have texture floors also and what I like to do is scrub the floors. It does get the dirt out. I have 5 dogs so I understand how hard it is to keep them clean. I just attachment scrub brush that goes onto the O cedar mop and it works perfectly and I do that once a month.

42+yrs ago at 25yrs (or so)of age we bought a piece of property and set out to build that dream home, weekend worriers birthed, two cats, two dogs and a radial arm saw, living room center. We still live in the home today recreating, just a bit simpler. Your videos and energy bring so many memories to present time, aid in helping to keep our spark alive at this 60+yr old pace……although the ladders have gotten shorter and the staging has disappeared…..it freaks to any people out😂. That dirt in the floors and the mold is the reason I never want to have real wood floors again. Lived in an apartment with them for two years and it was such a pain to keep clean and they were so fragile. I’m much happier with tile and vinyl. So much easier to keep clean. I can even take one of those coarse brushes to it if I really feel the need to.

Make sure there is still room to open the cabinet doors and reach in with how close the island is to them. For resale, you don't want it to be too close or it will look crowded. You might be able to add large pantry cabinets along the far wall by the fireplace. That would give more storage to make up for fewer cabinets.
