Oh God! I feel your pain!! Im getting my map torch today so im glad youve pointed this out. Ive been concidering using a small bike chain but yeah, more money.... sob*

Good choice. I never really liked the way the lifters skewed the chain profile while it was lifting the balls anyway, and an Archimedes screw lift will fit the rest of the design perfectly. Good luck.

Thanks Bill. I did fancy the chain lift for several reasons, but it'll have to wait for a future design.

Don't give up on the chain lift so easily. Ask for help in the facebook rbs forum. I'm sure you`ll get some help there to fix the chain. Replacing with a different lift type might take more time and follow-up-issues as you would expect. - Anyhow, good luck. Great to see your videos!!

Thanks Stefan. To be honest, this particular system was never quite good enough. I think I simply put off the inevitable and now I’ve finally admitted it. On paper it should all work, but the chain I used was not really up to lifting any loads over that height. I’m up to my eyeballs now in the world of helicals.

have you tried adding a chain guide around the gears, similar to a derailleur on a bike ( like a piece of wire/copper plate each side of the chain so it cant fall off ) ... building these is fun but getting them working 99% is hard work!!

Hi. Good idea with the chain guards. I didn’t try. Yes they are so hard to get perfect. I love this hard process.
