I used a pipe cutter to shorten my electric outboard shaft - no danger of damaging the wires the a pillar drill/ vee block with a little silicone grease on a slow speed drill. Also I re-crimped the wire ends rather than terminal blocks but I was using mine in sea water. Billiant engines!
