I had learned about Nick's difficulty with addiction and eventual sobriety like 8 years ago but I had never seen any media where he discusses it. This is the first time so it's nice to see some transparency coming from him. He definitely skirted around the harder questions and chose not go into detail. But at the same time I learned more about his issues now than ever before so I appreciate that.

Great questions, great interview. Nick isnt dodging raindrops, answers every question. Kudos to transparency and honesty.

Much love to Nick. I met him the other day (and the rest of the band) and glad he got clean. I had no idea he had substance issues. This interview really made him seem more human and transparent. And good for him for using that energy to improve his physical health. The dude is still shredded

Besides the Rap-Rock invention, 311 also brought up all these new Cali-Reggae bands too....Pepper, DH, Stoopid, Rebalution, etc.....

Appreciate the realer questions! Seems every 311 interview is usually exactly the same.

I wish Nick wasn't so positive. His positivity has created some of the most bland rock music in 20 years. The best music usually comes from stress. Even the old school 311 fans can admit now that the band is phoning it in. Fight me below.

All bullshit aside, this is so spot on. I was saying the same thing. Darkness creates some damn good music. And let’s be honest, we all need that sometimes
@SillyGoose20246 ай бұрын
You diagnosed the symptom correctly but I disagree with the diagnosis. It's too simplistic and reductionist to say the problem there is positivity=blandness. Most bands have a creative arc. Most people want to hear guns n roses play stuff off their first record nobody wants to hear chineese democracy. For any band u might be able to mention that bucked that trend, there are dozens of bands like aerosmith whose second half of their career in terms of writing is nowhere near as interesting musically as the first half. 311 guys are all in their 50s now [pnut 49] , sorry but people get softer as they age. Happens to most everybody including song writers. I'm glad I was there when from 93-99 with this band because it was incredible then, imo.
