In the twenty-seventh episode of the Prometheus series, The Film Symbologist continues the analysis of Ridley Scott's 2012 science fiction film. In this installment, I take a closer look at the so-called star maps and invitations that Shaw and Holloway discover. These ancient artifacts depict ancient humans worshipping giant beings who are pointing towards a distant star system. Shaw believes these are an invitation to visit mankind's engineers.
This episodes also explores the larger story of Scott's 2012 science fiction film by delving into creation mythology and its role in the story. Themes related to disobedience, rebellion, and punishment are discussed.
