I was there in San Jose too. I even got it on video. It's on my channel. I didn't even noticed he was bleeding until my friend pointed it out. Looking back at the video, he was doing a jump and came down onto mic really hard. The mic almost bounced off his hands but he caught it and continues to sing.

I think Taeyang's concert has specific budget for each stage and if the cost exceeds the budget, they needed to make a proposal for additional cost but it takes time to do so. I think he wanted the best for the concert not minding if he used his own money. In Bigbang Movie too GD said they use their own money for Bigbang Made Tour so they wanted the best of it.
