It’s your channel. You talk about whatever you want to talk about. If people don’t wanna listen to it, they can switch to something else. But frankly, I find your channel very fun and inspiring mostly because you are just you.

I love your idea of adding Leslie’s Scrappy Advent to your own yarn and crank out socks. Brilliant. You have awesome ideas. Your Seaglass Sweater is beautiful. If you want a foldover neck, I wouldn’t worry about the stitch being half off, would it show that much and gee whiz, you already knit that sweater over again. You need a medal. I don’t think I could ever do that.

For the collar, you could also pick up stitches from the right side at the top of the collar, knit enough rows to get to the same depth as the current color, then fold that over and attach it on the inside. My Grammy used to do that all the time, especially when the tops of collars were afraid a little bit. It was a good way to, fix a sweater
@stadknitКүн бұрын
Re the Seaglass, keep the collar as it. Hold the sweater right side out and pick up a stitch in every stitch along the caston edge of the collar. Knit ribbing k1, p1 in the same stitch pattern, and knit 1 round less than the existing collar. Bind off and sew collar down on the inside. You’ll then have a double collar that’s 1 row shorter than the current collar and it will hold its shape better. For your next sweater, knit 1 row in stockinette after the collar, then change colour and start the pattern. This will allow you to pick up stitches in that stockinette round and knit the other way if you should want to reknit the collar. 😊

@@rachelisknitting I was going to suggest knitting the inside part of the collar and then grafting into the cast on edge - but this seems way simpler!

I think your seaglass sweater is gorgeous-it’s my favorite I’ve seen. I don’t know enough about sweater construction to have an opinion on what to do with the neck, I’m afraid. The lovely fabric will probably outshine however the collar is constructed, imho.

Taking out the collar on the seaglass TERRIFIES me but you know that’s me 😅 all of this is WAYYYY beyond my middling skill level. And any vlogmas will be a fun ride with you ❤️

Your idea to use the advent minis sent to you by your friend as the contrasting color for cuffs / heels / toes of socks is great! Here's an idea: crank a pair using several minis (that is, hodgepodge, non-matching cuffs / heels / toes) and send that pair back at your friend. Then THEY'LL have the surprise of seeing their stash bits and bobs magically transformed into a wearable item. 🙂

I still love your sea glass ❤ If I were you, I would try the elastic band first. If you end up really not liking it, you could easily take that out and think of an other solution.
@rachelisknittingКүн бұрын
That is a great idea - I'm going to try that!
@knitwithjo20 сағат бұрын
for your sea glass (which is stunning btw!), I would try the elastic first, cause if it works, great, and if not, it will be the easiest to undo. and if you want to make the collar longer, I wouldn't re-knit the entire collar, I'd recommend picking up the top of the collar, and knitting the extra length from there - that way you don't risk your colourwork stitches integrity/tension, and you're going to fold over the neck anyway. plus, where it's a ½ stitch off, you can just place that at the back, and it will be hidden when you wear it.
@rachelisknitting5 сағат бұрын
I think I'm going to try the elastic first as you suggested!
@stephaniewilliams8687Күн бұрын
Do not risk it! Just use the elastic to fix your neck. You deserve to finish and enjoy your hard work. It will be gorgeous! 🧶😊
@AnthrophobiKristyКүн бұрын
For the sea glass, I would unpick the cast on and pick up stitches from there to make the double collar. The stitches will be in different directions, but it will look fine and feel nice on your neck.

I wish you to wear a wrist support and a thumb support, lol 😅I usually crocheted too to much when I was learning. Hence shoulder, hand and wrist pain and then the thumb joint. I am working on my Sea Glass tho three to five rows will be all I recommend. Poor thing you are scaring me about more ripping out ...I've done that to four rows for stitch count on the raglan count. Dropped stitch here and there maybe five now but will allow for creative resolutions to that. So it would be better for a positive finish and a successful fun wearable. 😅🎉🎉
@kristalburns3490Күн бұрын
Couldnt you pick up your cast on edge of the collar? Might be worth a try before ripping it back. I think the new idea for vlogmas is a great plan.
@lisette1580Күн бұрын
Is it possible to pick up stitches at the top? Since you would fold it (to the inside), who will see it? Happy knitting 🌹

What about picking up stitches on the current collar? Maybe in a contrast color and knit the extra length you need for the folded collar. That way you wouldn't need to frog anything.

Regarding the sea glass neck fix, if you have to pick up two different color legs (gray and yellow) would each of the legs of that first row be potentially two colors, and what would the look be?
@rachelisknittingКүн бұрын
I don't think it would be too noticeable since the whole fabric is so multi-colored.
@yarnhedgieКүн бұрын
I think your Sea Glass looks great as is. I would say don't cut it. But, if you are determined to do it, might I suggest you knit a small test item. Just a few rounds of ribbing and then a few rounds of stockinette. Try to sweater surgery on the test item to see if you like the results. Granted, I would likely skip knitting the test item, but hopefully, you're smarter than I am.
@rachelisknittingКүн бұрын
I think that's a good idea - doing a practice swatch will help with my ease of mind if I do decide to move forward with redoing the neckband.
