EP-46 | Decoding Maharashtra's 'alliance' politics with Poonam Mahajan

Young politician Poonam Mahajan, daughter of veteran BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan, has carved a niche for herself in Bharatiya Janata Party. A two-time MP from Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha constituency, she has held many important positions in the BJP. She is known more as her father's daughter, who in a candid conversation with Smita Prakash talks about her life, vision for her party and her state- Maharashtra. She recalls her entry into politics after her father's horrific murder in 2006 and the legal battle that ensued the killing of her father by his brother. She also hits out at the Congress party, the Gandhi family and Bharat Jodo Yatra. Talking about Maharashtra politics, she explains the history of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance and the changed scenario of alliances in the state.

I used to be an admirer of her father who was a good politician and architect of Shiv Sena - BJP Alliance in Maharashtra. Pramodji was a wellknown wordsmith with quick wit. ' Poonam papa pe gaie kya?' She is quite articulate in expressing her views. Her comments on Sanjy Raut are 'spot on'. He is largely responsible for the bitterness in the relation. She is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She has served as the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the BJP, from December 2016 to September 2020. Now.. a perfect example for nepotism will get you the place or position ,but you should work hard to maintain the place or position and prove your worth.
