While grief is inevitable, it’s never easy. Losing loved ones, whether through death, disbelief, divorce, or other means, can send us spinning into deep spirals of sorrow. We can and should acknowledge our grief, and while we do, we can take heart in the story of Prophet Ibrahim (as), whose life was defined by the loss of everyone he loved-but who looked forward to his ultimate reunion with his Lord.
Tune in with Dr. Omar Suleiman, Ustadha Sarah Sultan and guests for episode 5 of Attaching to Allah. Make sure to download the full list of du'as here: yqn.io/u0j

Don't avoid the grief Don't deny the grief Accept the grief Live the grief Express the grief There is no shame to live the grief. We are not supposed to act like braves in front of our grief.

Assalam alaikum. My nephew passed away just 3 days ago. He was 24, will be 25 in October. He was kind, always helping others, he had the biggest heart I ever saw in someone, and was a very good Muslim. He never missed prayer, always make sure to tell everyone it was time to pray. This level of kindness is extremely rare and alhamdoulilah he was a very good Muslim. He was older than me but still respected me as an aunt yet was my best friend. He was my other half and now that he's gone I'm telling myself I should have appreciated more than I did, because he was so wonderful. I should've done that and that. I still feel like he just went on vacation and will comeback. But Allah is the one who decide and he's Almighty. He took him from us and he know why. It hurts so much but I respect Allah's décision. I'm trying to concentrate more on the positive and all the goods deeds he did in his life. Allah took him because it was the best for him and that lessens the pain of his loss. He died on a Friday and on the 1st day of Dhul hijja. Mashallah. I hope and pray he has it easier in the tomb and that he will acceed to Aljanna. Please everyone make a lot of Douah for him. That's the only thing we who are left on earth can do to our deceased. Please pray that he has it easy on his way. Thank you all.

We can never truly appreciate the loss of others..I always felt complete when people often spoke of Thier loss untill last week when my father passed away..such a beautiful humble yet wise and a very knowledgeable man.. When we our born to our parents we are a gift from Allah to them..now i feel incomplete and that he was my gift in my life... I had an unfinished chapter in life with my father...I now get up everyday to do him proud and insha'Allah continue for my kids.. Father's are the backbone and the bond of the family. My dua's goes out to all that grive a loss.. It's hard... 😢

Aameen *Benefical message to anyone whose parents or closed one passed away* 🥀 The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) once said as reported in Tirmidhi, 1376: “When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: sadaqah jaariyah (ongoing charity, e.g. a waqf or endowment), beneficial knowledge (which he has left behind), *or a righteous child who will pray for him.”,* The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) also said: *A man’s status will be raised in Paradise and he will ask, ‘How did I get here?’ He will be told, ‘By your Son’s Dua'a (Children's prayers) for forgiveness for you.”* There are certain others things we can do as well for example *Doing Sadaqah or charity on their behalf* *The best form is Sadaqah Jariyah is giving water* The Prophet (SAW) said: *“The best charity is giving water to drink"* so giving water is a great charitable act that brings us closer to Allah (SWT). There are many ways to give Sadaqah on behalf of parents like donating a copy of Qur’an, building a water well, donating affordable amount for building masajid 🕌, paying fees for Madrasa children's services, Medical bills etc Donating water to masajid or to the poor whenever possible and if applicable giving water to birds and animals regularly with good intentions A man told the Prophet (saw) that his mother died a sudden death and did not have a chance to leave a legacy in her will, and that were she able to speak, she would want to donate to charity. He then asked if the reward of charity on behalf of his deceased mother would reach her, to which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “Yes.” [Muslim] In a report cited by Imam al-Bukhari in his famous work al-Adab al-Mufrad, we read, “A man approached the Prophet asking, “Is there anything I must do in terms of kindness towards my parents after their death?” The Prophet replied, “Yes, there are four things for you to do: Praying and asking forgiveness of Allah on their behalf, fulfilling their promises, respecting their friends, and fostering their ties of kinship….” So let's make sure to do a lot of Dua'a for our parents and the whole Muslim Ummah in general May Allah SWT forgive, bless and unite us all in Jannatul Firdous امين يارب العالمين 🌸 Share this message with everyone to get reward everytime someone practices, these even after we leave this world 🗺 May Allah bless all of us and our family and grant us Jannatul Firdous امين يارب العالمين 🌸

Assalam u alaikum. So I wanted to share a moment in my life that I think is the reason I came close to Allah, and the reason I feel Allah has a special eye on me. It's sort of long, so bear with me. I was 16 years old when my father passed away. It was the most difficult part of my life because of the closeness I had with my father. He was a mentor to me, would often teach me the sunnah of rasulullah and the ways of life the way he learnt them. He was the strongest person I knew. And for me, he was the only person I've ever loved. A year before he passed away. In Ramadan, I would get dreams of a funeral happening, and people mourning my dad. I used to wake up in the middle of the night and run to him saying, "abba what will I do without you?" And he would often tell me that I've taught you well. Before going to bed, I would make a prayer to Allah saying, "ya Allah, please take me before my father, because he can see my death but I cannot see his." This happened for a week, and every night I would make the same prayer and go to sleep. After a week everything was back to normal. A year later. On December 31st. I was out playing and came home after maghrib, which was not allowed in my household, so my father was not happy with me. I would usually refrain from addressing a conflict and apologising, rather I'd just wait for the next day and my father would be good and happy with me again. But that night I just felt like I should apologise. So I did. And I rested my head on his lap and I cried because I felt sorry for disappointing him, and he kept telling me, you're doing great, you're going to do great. After that it was bed time so my father told me to go sleep, because I had school tomorrow. So I went. And I slept. I'm the middle of the night my phone rang and I woke up, it was 1:45am. It was my aunt asking about my father, I got out of bed and roamed the house, no one was home. I told her I don't know and hung up. My other aunt then called me and asked me to come outside. As I went I saw an ambulance and my father was being carried out. He had passed away. I remember that sharp and painful grief I felt. And I just started crying recklessly. After crying for an hour or so, it was fajr time. And I remembered my dua. So I went to pray alone in my home, and I started crying and saying, "I asked you to not let me see this, but if this is what you want, then give me the strength." The next day, after the burial, my uncle gave me my father's hospital death certificate. I saw the time. And it was 1:45 Am. Allah put me to sleep in the time my father was dying, he didn't show me his death. He heard my prayer. He heard me. I look back and think of that fajr, the pain I had in me and still praised Allah. I think that's why I came so close to him again. That's why he didn't just let me fall astray, he pulled me back.

I’m a revert and my sister and I are not close and have a lot of issues since I accepted Islam. I want to keep the lines of communication open, but won’t tolerate toxic or gaslighting behavior in my life anymore. The prophets (PBUT) are such amazing examples of dealing with hurtful family and other betrayals, I know I will fall short because I cannot easily forgive and forget. If you’re reading this, please make du’a for me and my sister. May Allah guide her to Islam, that would solve most of the issues. InshaAllah

I'm the only Muslim in my family and I'm very familiar to loss. I lost my mum when I was 19 and it was such a difficult time of my life. Allah helped me to deal with it in such a miraculous way that till now I don't understand how I was able to cope with it. However, the most shocking for me was my aunt (my mum's sister) who once came to me and told me that I had handled my mum's death the best out of our family. I was so surprised she said that, but I think the main reason I was able to handle it the way I did is because of Allah's mercy.

This emission of Yaqeen touched me in the hearth , especially when brother Omar mentioned how we can look forward to be gathered in family in the presence in Jannah ,it made me feel sorrow , I lost my father some months ago , him being a very conscient christian , who worked all his life to perfectionize his beleaves in the trinity , and gloryfying . I am muslim since 30 years and we lived in different countries , i never had the courage to try to convert him , him having a caracter not permitting difficult discussions , i was afraid of losing him , but now , when he died ;i do so much regret my fears ,and also , i'm not sure how far I can go in doing dua's for my christian father , I do that daily in extra night prayers , but i'm not sure i have the right to do this for a person that was a beleaver in trinity All this makes me feel sad , I'm glad there are frequently programs like this on the subject , it is so important to reflect on these things I wish you all good days and nights in this sacred month , may you all be blessed and assalamaleikoum wa rahmatulahi ,ameene I thank the Yaqeen institute , and above all Allah for guiding us , hamdullilahi

My beloved father passed away last year due to COVID-19. My whole family tested positive for COVID-19 too. It was really hard to endure it, especially when you can't give a proper goodbye, couldn't kiss your father for the last time, and most tragically, you couldn't attend the funeral. The pain is excruciating. But I know Allah loves him more than us. May Allah reunited us in Jannah, Allahuma Aamiin 🤲🏻🤍

Assalam o Alaikum. I just turned 22 and my father died last week. My brain is mostly fogged. My roommate is very kind as he ignores it and bears with me with patience because I sometimes get lost in thoughts when he is talking and can't focus. I try to be patient but it's hard, my heart literally aches like it never did before... But I try my best to accept this from Allah, I keep saying razi tu billah hi rabba'an completely as mentioned in hadith three times after fajr and maghrib. Moreover, Alhamdulillah ala kulli haal also. I keep praying for my dad. But sometimes, I get really really sad... like I really want to just hear him talk, just see him... Indeed whatever Allah does is a blessing for us, Alhamdulillah. Indeed He is with the patient. Hasbi Allah.

SubhanAllah these discussions surely helps me understand this feeling that we get so much involved in our worldly connection to our dear ones that sometimes somewhere we get lost in realizing that these sense of connection was placed by Allah Subhanatala Himself so the ultimate goal for creating these love and dependency upon the connectivity of loveable relationships is from Allah Subhanatala so that the circle of or rather the Triangle of love is complete we love our dear ones and we do that because to gain Allah Subhanatala's pleasure

May Allah SWT bless and strengthen you all *Benefical message to anyone whose parents or closed one passed away* 🥀 The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) once said as reported in Tirmidhi, 1376: “When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: sadaqah jaariyah (ongoing charity, e.g. a waqf or endowment), beneficial knowledge (which he has left behind), *or a righteous child who will pray for him.”,* The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) also said: *A man’s status will be raised in Paradise and he will ask, ‘How did I get here?’ He will be told, ‘By your Son’s Dua'a (Children's prayers) for forgiveness for you.”* There are certain others things we can do as well for example *Doing Sadaqah or charity on their behalf* *The best form is Sadaqah Jariyah is giving water* The Prophet (SAW) said: *“The best charity is giving water to drink"* so giving water is a great charitable act that brings us closer to Allah (SWT).

I know the pain of losing a child. My son died before he had a chance to take his first breath over 16 years ago. I never questioned Allah why. I leaned on him for understanding. This was the hardest death I’ve ever experienced in my life.

This series is amazing. I lost my nan in 2012, then my father who was disabled in 2013. I rushed home in the early hours and saw my dad had passed as I hugged my mother, and had to stop myself from screaming. A year passed and could not grieve. Then my auntie died a few weeks later, then six month later my friend had committed suicide. Now I have reverted I am finding it easier to handle my emotions effectively. Also to help my mother whom lost her brother twenty years ago to suicide. I make dua for my friend my family, and my mother to try and ease her pain.

I experienced the death of my dad, brother and sister each two years apart. One of the things that brought me comfort was the fact that, although I missed them terribly, they were only here for a finite amount of time, which was Allah's plan.

What delayed my grief was witnessing my mother grieving the death of her twins two years apart and being strong for her, my children and my nephew (his mother/my sister). At times, I became angry because my siblings "left" me, but I was never angry at Allah because our born and death dates are already known by Him.

May I be reunited with my beloved mum in the best of places, who I miss so truly that I know Allah swt knows too. Ameen Ya Allah

1 - Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071] 2 - whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One " [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67, Sahih Muslim, #4:2071] 3. La Hawla wa la Quwatta illa Billah (There is no Might or Power except with Allah) [the above is] a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.[Sahih al-Bukhari; al-Fath al-Bari #11:213, Sahih Muslim #4:2076] 4.SubhanAllah, walHamdulilah, wa La illaha ilAllahu, waAllahu Akbar (Glory be to Allah, All Praise is for Allah, There is No God but Allah, Allah is the Greatest) The above are mentioned as the four most beloved words to Allah. It does not matter with which one of them is begun.[Sahih Muslim; #3:1685] Abu Sa`id (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "Perform the enduring goods deeds (al-baaqiyaat al-SaliHaat) more frequently." They asked, "What are these enduring good deeds?" The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) replied: Takbir [Allahu Akbar], Tahlil [la ilaha illallah], Tasbih [Subhan'Allah], alhamdulillah, and la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah.
