Nice episode, If you want to make similar dal at home. Then you should buy a slow cooker. It is worth the money only for making Maa ki daal. Just put Kaali Daal, Rajma(no need of soaking), 5 times water, Tomato puree(fresh tomatoes blended in mixer), whole spices- Cinnamon, Black cardamom, Bay leaves and couple of whole red chillies, Dry spices - salt, chilli, dhaniya powder, garam masala, butter and garlic(optional) and no need of onions. Leave it in slow cooker on low setting for 10 hours. I do it in morning and go to work. by the time I come back Dal is ready. Then I mix some fresh cream and leave it for cooking for another hour till the dinner time. Then add desi ghee on the top. Done. Trust me that home made dal in slow cooker is no less then any dhaba daal. And it is so convenient for working women or even men. Thanks.

Harish ji thanks, I specially bought a slow cooker for particularly making this dal. I am a vegetarian but they are very good for making tough meats like mutton. Not chicken because it cooks fast. Any proteins which takes long time to cook tastes best when slow cooked. Even Rajma, maa chole ki daal is amazing. The concept is it has ceramic pot inside the metal body and it releases slow heat and get the best taste out of everything. Get one and try, you will love that. And sure you can come, I am in Melbourne. If sometimes in future you come to Australia do let me know.

And if you go bhaggar to eat rajma chawal you will prefer bhaggar rajma chawal over pehra ..so real game is water they use in making rajma and rice....

I have been watching your videos since last 18 months and I must tell you that you do a fantastic job in explaining the places that you visit and also the cuisine’s that you try at those places. Am I guess because of this your videos are always special so I must complement that. However I watched your five episodes of this Jammu tour and I feel that you were in a hurry at different part of the video. Maybe it was a issue with the time but I guess I could see that unlike your other trips it looked to me You were in a hurry to cover this.
