I would close of the door from the entry hall. That will give you a lot more room in your kitchen. You can add a lot bigger pantry and more counter space. Dark handles will look good with your cabinets.

07:31 / 11:20 - I would recommend at least fitting the boxes to the left and right of the hob in line with the fridge and the stove. That way the front edge of the worktop is in line. This makes the design calmer and is much more practical for working. Alternatively, you can open the wall behind the fridge and slide the fridge to the back. Another option would be to swap the fridge and the tall unit, which would give you more space in the preparation area (island). - You could consider installing the sink to the left or right rather than centered on the island. Depending on whether you are left- or right-handed. This will give you a larger and contiguous preparation area. - I would do without the open shelf and fit another wall unit instead. - As your own body casts shadows, think about lighting under all wall units. - You will probably want to have a power socket on each side of the kitchen island.

Hardware: Black flush mount. The ones that mount to the top of the drawers and bottom of uppers. Minimal look! Makes it look less busy since it is a smaller tighter area the home. And black will pull the colors from the living area. Rail: I say custom metal rails and powder coat it a simlar color of the back wall leading downstairs so that it blends in seamlessly or do black to match the other black accents. But I do not encourage wood unless it is solid good quality wood railings. Because that is the walkway that railing will take a beating so metal i see will be a better long term solution. I know it's a bit late, but if you fry anything, every room is going to be covered in grease. For your hood, I literally just put mine in yesterday. We bought the Hauslane PS18 and already love it! If you're going to do "to ceiling" cabinets, consider a pull-down "shelves" so you don't need a step stool. For your sink, try to get a foot-push or motion sensor to turn on the water. We have a motion sensor to turn on the water and it's AMAZING! I hope these suggestions help. Keep up the great work.

That would also be the reason for me to only install very large tiles on the rear wall. Grease splashes will stain and discolor the joints.

I really like this style of video where there no cuts and you're just talking through things 👍 one idea I had which I think is a possible improvement is to put the peninsula the other side of the door way you have, in the space between the door way and living room. This would flow better and allow stools to face the TV . Having your current configuration means you'll have to walk around the peninsula to enter the kitchen. Just an idea! Could also mean you can centre the island on the oven and/or make the island bigger if you wanted

First, congratulations on your engagement. Second, I would use black hardware with the cabinets because brass pulls are more yellow and look one-dimensional. Third, for the hood vent, you could do a fluted design to match the waterfall cabinet design and incorporate the design in your living room and office as well. I love the kitchen design and that is not all white and there is warmth to it. For the stairs, I honestly like the metal and wood design, it's the best of both worlds, but all wood stair designs would look good too.

An idea for the range hood: box it to blend with the cabinet, but hang an unique, personalized artwork to draw the eyes. It could be a conversational piece as you cook and prepare for hosting. Take it from me: you can never have enough drawers. The only thing I would have changed in my kitchen was replacing Lazy Susan with pull out Lazy Susan. I could probably replace them myself but I'm too lazy to get to it. 😅 I am not convinced that checkered pattern tiles is the way to go as I think it would make the floor too busy but that's just me.

I honestly thought you two were already married because from the time you renovated the condo, you referred to Bianca as your girlfriend and in the last couple of years I hear "husband and wife" comments. But yes if you can get through renovations together without killing each other, then you've found the one! I love the design choices so far. I really thought you might do a floor tile color that matches the wood flooring but the lighter colors are a nice break between the family room and dining room. If you're waterfalling the peninsula then you should also waterfall the island, so much more cohesive. For the hood don't forget the make up air, without air coming in its so much less effective.

Congrats!!! Great work on the layout. That railing is hard to deal with. I think if it were me, I’d frame and drywall the corner area up to the ceiling, maybe halfway across, and then do a railing for the rest. Or you could do framing and drywall with inset glass to get kind of a transitional look. Glass is SUPER practical with kids. Everything cleans off easily. They can draw all over with dry erase markers, even sharpies. If you can swing the price, deffffffinitely go with glass.

I know it’s a little out of style, but I love silver, nickel or stainless hardware. It just feels fresh and bright. That said, for your place I’d think black hardware would match well. I worry brass hardware would be a similarly warm look as the cabinets but also a mismatch, so no contrast and a bit of a clash.

I would consider a 36” range hood. I did a lot of research before doing mine and size wise, a 6” wider hood than those range is recommended.

For the garbage disposal you can get a twist drain disposal that doesn't require a switch, just twist the drain cap to activate ( sorry I don't know the exact name of it)

Nice overview - would if I were you, 'butt' the island with sink to the wall of the stairs (and can make bigger, if wish).. you won 't miss the light like your expressed you fear you'll miss (PROMISE this!). Other than that, love the selections (like most the cabinet DRAWERS, and that going up to celing -- which gives much more of a high-end, and bespoke [for more $$]look!). Congrats re: engagement!

I would have removed stairs all together, make a different route to the basement. Could have also used patio doors and replaced for windows, position sink under it. All the walls coming down imo was a mistake but hey you do what you want guys, i'm only a backseat commenter. Keep up the good work.

Question: why don't you wall up that doorway between the house entry way and the kitchen? To get from the entryway to the kitchen you can either walk through the family room and in to the kitchen or through the dining room and in... having the doorway too to me seems like overkill and some slightly wasted space. Apologies if u already gave a reason not to but... just a thought. I don't see why that extra doorway is there when there's two other ways through from those rooms like 4 feet away. You could even also shorten that bit of wall that sticks out into the family room to make it easier to get through if you did wall up the doorway? Just seems to me like a way to get more cabinet space.

Stair railing with cables instead of pickets would look good and keep it open. I wish I had an appliance garage so things like the toaster don’t clutter up the counter. Also, make sure you have enough outlets because you’ll have a coffee maker, toaster, etc to plug in. Agree with a comment about outlets on either side of the island.
