I do the ice in my milk and cereal. It makes the cereal taste better. Have to try it to understand lol. My kids thinks I’m nuts doing that. I hate the smell of warm milk so this works great.

Cereal doesn't have expiration dates. It's a best before date. The bag was still sealed, she's fine. She's actually right though that the lack of flavour could be due to the fact that it's past it's best before date. Little known fact is that there are actually no foods that have a true expiration date. The dates are best before dates. Infant formula is one exception to this. If it's past the date, it needs to be tossed. Obviously always check food for signs of spoilage before consuming it.
