No one is born to fight a battle well. We learn from our mistakes & improve the battle plan & execution. Most importantly the leader must get the men to feedback to him on the battlefield. The leader must make the decision fast & give clear orders to the men to overrun the enemy. To Lead, To Excel, To Overcome.

During my time, they had "special missions", which were meant either for cadets being assessed for government scholarships, or for cadets who needed remedial assessment. These were conducted near the end of field camp, when all the regular assessments had been done. Not sure how things are done these days.

Nice bro, btw do they see race an issue too when enlisting recruits in NDU or commandos? coz i notice all of them are chinese in NDu and some indians. Also NDu do you need NAFPA gold to o in or just silver? and the trianing in commando and NDU are they tough? if it is cna you explain more on what they do?

Not bad for 2LT. But the lack of firepower as well as dexterity sure cost the section a huge toll. Stateside, Comms and Icom are neccesities in operations conducted in training. When we go downrange in A-Stan, tactics will not work well in mountains so there should always be a contingency plan.

ah.. the race issue is a sensitive one. i believe the government denies that it is a criteria in terms of how they allocate us to different vocations but many people believe otherwise. i'm not too sure about NAPFA results, but I'm quite sure that as long as you meet the above criteria, the vocational assessment letter will come to you. Well my friend has a classmate who failed NAPFA but received the commando letter.

to answer your questions,yes those are real guns, but loaded with blanks. The enemies are normally superiors from other training wings in OCS.

Precisely, a good officer will learn to accept his soldier's observation and perspective. In the field, the soldier and commander may have differing points of view, thus they must share their perspectives in order to understand the full picture and come up with a good strategy. As a cadet leader, he should explore every possible tactic that can be used before he leads his section into the field. Then he would have noticed the high ground and gained tactical advantage. Same for his formation.

A leader should encourage his platoon to come up with different points of view to effectively solve a problem. Found it rather distasteful that he rejected his platoonmate's observation without even thinking it through.

Sometimes you don't have a clear view and are just shooting blindly in the rough direction the enemy is. So you have to advance to get a clearer shot. Notice when they got close, the assessors said "enemy is down".

Recently there was this new directive being passed down about jungle hats, as long you are an instructor from any training institute (except for BMTC maybe, not sure about this), you are entitled to wear the jungle hat for training purposes only. This is to have a clear distinction between the instructors and cadets. In addition, to those who have earned their jungle hats due to vocation, they are not allowed to wear it around in camp, unless you are undergoing training.

Yes, the section field camp is during Service Term so all Army cadets will go through it. I don't think failing this assessment is enough to OOC you, but fail enough and you may just do.

can everybody stop hating on officers and cadets? These guys are in the beginning of OCS. for gods sake their not even halfway through service term. Before centipede, you havnt learnt shit. So obviously mistakes will be made. OCS is a place to make mistakes anyways. Although I agree with the general consensus that that particular cadet has a rather bad attitude. But maybe he OOC'ed?

Thats why this is a Training. You make mistakes here. So no point crucifying the lad. Everybody panics the first time. Even great military leaders like Napoleon makes mistakes. The only thing i have to add to this is that the section sticks too close too each other. In the Day, a 3-5m gap is the best in order to reduce section exposure and makes it easier to flank and envelop~

rgding the camo comment, its a sign of how lax ocs, and indeed the whole SAF in general, has become. When i was in OCS, only 2 years ago mind you, not camoing my hands and neck would get me confinement.

Because the very basic Principle of Warfare is to gain ground and push your battle lines forward unless there is a strategic advantage holding on. Only when you overrun the line can you be sure that the enemy is neutralised.

probably both the same? for NSFs in NDU or commando, their pay is among the highest when compared to NSFs in other vocations.

NDU perfect eyesight. Commando they have a bit of allowance with regards to eyesight now. i think 200 degrees max? PES A. I think PES B1L1 can also get the commando vocational assessment letter (thats what happened to my friend). The assessment involves a few IPPT stations and an interview (to check your interest). once you pass the above, then it'll be the training that see who makes it through and pass out. source: my friends who received the vocational assessment letter.
