The finished product looks quality i have just completed a 3d first stage model of a full scaled catamaran the waiheke islander that is certainly quite a project to design. Is around 19m long 5m high and 11m wide. Each canoe is around 3.5m wide. The first design has multi hull mast flyover deck main inner deck 4 stairs leading to interior for twin below deck rooms shower and toilet on each canoe. The aft section is wide enough for 4 people seated and all sizing and heights is for a 5.8ft adult. The accomodation section and main deck lower is honeycombed. Main galley is step to below deck with all round views. Keep up the good work.

Yes I apologize I watched all of them for a few hours last night because I couldn’t sleep lol shared your videos to all my buddies because I’ve been talking about doing this but my 2 daughters in high school and just graduated high school and I really Love projects like this and they really want to do this and I’m a Home Builder from Framing to finish carpenter so building the mold would definitely not be a problem for sure just got my first ski boat last year and and want a challenge I started watching KZbin channels on Fiberglassing and I am fascinated with this and have watched hundreds of glassing videos(: My father-in-law raced cars and I remember 15 years ago him fiberglassing pretty much after every race LOL which means lots of crashes ha ha but I’ve started fiberglassing and practicing just doing boxes and stuff and gel coating and my father-in-law teaches auto collusion and refinishing at our local college and is taught me how to paint and another buddy owns a autobody shop so the gel coating and painting won’t be a problem the building the mold won’t be a problem fiberglassing won’t be a problem so why the heck not😁seeing how I know a lot of people doing a lot this stuff everyday and hundreds of videos and sorry for this novel😬😝 but none of us have really had boats and really don’t understand the shape that we need to do and it’s hard to find I guess what I would say a set of plans and dimensions so I guess where I’m trying to go with this and your boat is exactly what we are looking for I don’t know what exactly what length yours is but it definitely looks like a perfect size but if you have and have a set of blueprints for your mold and measurements if you would be willing to give or even sell me a set that would be incredibly awesome again sorry for the novel your boat is awesome looks great good job and have a wonderful weekend..(: Fish on my friend hope this made any sense😬 Thx keep making these videos👍🏼👊🏼

Glad you found the videos interesting! Thanks for sharing them with your friends and family, that really helps the channel grow! Sounds like you have a good knowledge base, and excitement for this kind of work. I grew up around Boatbuilding and fiberglass work, and our family has built several hundred boats, some over 50 feet in length. The boat I am currently building is 29 feet long, with a 9.5 foot beam. 160 gallons of fuel capacity and projected draft of 15 inches. I plan on using it in our fishing charter business here in Gulf Shores AL. I don't currently have any plans that I can offer for sale, as a lot of what we do is planed out as we go on the shop floor. Since I am the designer, and the builder I don't require the same kind plans that a first time builder might need. I can tell you that it costs LOTS of money, and takes LOTS of time to to build a boat this way, but its certainly possible to do if you have those resources. I am working on a new video right now that details more on how we actually build the molds. I think you will find it very interesting. Hope this answers some of your questions. Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel!

Good to hear from you Ryan! Man, I hope Earl would be proud, I miss that guy! Good question on the power and layout. I plan on twin 150, 175 or 200s. But motors are really scarce right now so I might have to go with a big single in the 300 to 400 hp range. It will have a rear deck that's a lot like your 19 ft Buskens, then a large midship live well, leaning post, and tackle center all in one. Then forward of the console a large cooler for clean ice, and drinks. Then seating for 4 to 6 in a u shape configuration. With a 4 foot bow deck, with a large anchor locker. If your ever in the area give me a call and I will give you a tour of the shop. I really appreciate you watching and commenting on the channel!

Very very nice, how many layers of gelcoat should be used and how many layers of fiberglass should be used to achieve the right thicknessy? And what should be the sufficient thickness of the body of this ship?..
@FishBumpTV
@FishBumpTV 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Glad You enjoyed the video! We typically do 2 coats of gelcoat, one coat sprayed horizontally, and one sprayed vertically on the mold. There are 10 layers of biaxial glass on the bottom, which would be 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick. The sides are 6 layers which would be 1/4 to 5/16 inch thick. Hope this was helpful!

So did you build your mold on your own as well and if so did you come up with your own shape or how did you go about doing this I would love to start a project for my off time for the next couple years. :-) And it looks awesome by the way great job(:
@FishBumpTV
@FishBumpTV 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, So It started by drawing a side view, and a overhead view with a scale ruler. I knew what size boat I wanted to build based on boats I have owned in the past. the problem was, nothing like what I wanted was on the market. After drawing the plans the next step was to build whats called a plug or pattern. It's the mold, for the actual Mold that you build the boat hull in. The plug, or pattern is a exact replica of the boat you want to build, but it's built out of wood and is faired out with specialized fillers and primers. Then the plug is polished and waxed to perfection. The actual mold is built on the outside of the plug, it consists of 18 layers of hand laid fiberglass, then heavily braced with framing and more fiberglass. It is a pretty complex process, I have been working on it for 6 years in my spare time and have spent tens of thousands on the project so far. I had hoped when I shared this on youtube it might inspire and inform! There are several more boat building episodes other than just the one of us pulling the hull from the mold, be sure to check them all out as there is lots of info and details in them. Hope this answers some of your questions. Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel!

Sorry ,what resin pump sprayer do you used and where u can buy?thanks in advance
@FishBumpTV
@FishBumpTV 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I would be happy to answer some of your questions. Yes, you would first fill the spaces between the plywood strips with filler. Then fiberglass over everything, then apply more filler, and fair it out. Then your primer. You would want to use a high quality tooling resin when building the mold. Your local resin supplier should be able to make a recommendation. The resin pump that we used is a Phoenix Apollo, I believe they are located in Florida. The one we are using was not brand new, we got it used. Hope this answers some of your questions, And good luck with your project!

The build is really in three parts, the Plug, the Mold, Then the actual Boat. I'm sure I have thousands of hours, and tens of thousands of dollars in it so far. How heavy is it? How many layers of fibreglass? How big is it? Why did it take years?
@FishBumpTV
@FishBumpTV 2 жыл бұрын
I estimate the finished weight to be around 4500 pounds, dry weight. That would be without fuel, batteries, or motors. There are 10 layers of biaxel glass on the bottom, and 6 layers on the sides. The boat measures 28 ft 10 inches down the centerline with a 9 ft 6 inch width. It has taken years because I am building it mostly by myself, and I run a year round fishing charter business that keeps me very busy. I also had to build the plug or pattern for the boat, then the actual mold was built off that , then the boat was built out of the mold. It's a very labor intensive, and expensive process! There are several other videos on my channel that explain a lot more of the process in greater detail. hope this answers your questions. Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel!

@@FishBumpTV thank you for answering. Could you employ people (firstly on a share of the business basis, so not as bad for cash flow) and start pumping the boats out to sell? What would the retail price be of that boat? $150k?
@FishBumpTV
@FishBumpTV 2 жыл бұрын
We may build some boats for sale in the future, but right now we are just focusing on finishing this one for our charter business. The finished cost for a boat like this could be anywhere from 150 - 200k depending on options.

@FishBumpTV 2 жыл бұрын
It's 28 ft 10 inches down the centerline, with a 9,5 beam midship, tapering to 8,5 at the transom. projected draft of 14 to 16 inches, with 160 gallons of fuel capacity, with 30 gallons of fresh water on board. Plan on installing twin 150, 175 or 200's. Thanks for watching, and welcome to the channel!

Are you going to sell that boat form?

I would consider selling the molds, or partnering with someone to build more.

U need bond braker
@FishBumpTV
@FishBumpTV 2 жыл бұрын
The first hull out of a new mold is usually a little tougher to release, especially will a rolled edge design. After we introduced a little air through a fitting on the bottom she popped out pretty easy. But I will check out the bond breaker for future projects, Thanks for the suggestion!
