Thanks for sharing that story. Please share your dramatic results with all fat phobic vegans out there who like to claim that this ketogenic diet will promote atherogenesis. Your story, along with a growing number of people who are showing a regression in plaque deposits in the artery when doing keto, completely refutes the long held myth that the consumption of fat will lead to heart disease. These dietary myths, because they have been foisted on the public for decades, will take a long time to dispel. The best way to do this is to share these success stories.

@@ChrisM-mu8rc It's a CT scan of the chest for calcium deposits in the vessels. A score of zero is best. I did the test 12 years ago and my score was 0. Insurance may or may not pay but it was $75 12 years ago. Having it done tomorrow b/c after being strict keto one year, my LDL's and inflammation has gone way up. My HDL actually went up 10 points and it has not gone up in years of trying to eat a regular diet cutting out fat and meats.

It also progresses over the years as well. It's not a switch that flips yes or no. At first, you'll stop producing excess ketones in the urine. Netostix stop working. Eventually excess blood and breath ketones will diminish as well. In fact, after 5 years, I really can't get into ketosis (as indictated by meters) very easily. I've become so fat-adapted that I have little to no ketones in my breath or blood. IMO, becoming highly fat adapted needs more emphasis than ketosis.

This was extremely helpful and informative. I would actually trust Dr. Cywes to do my bloodwork. It’s a shame that most people will be led astray by conventional wisdom from the medical community because doctors base their standards and expectations on the standard American diet. I don’t care what my doctor says. I’m going to continue to practice keto and intermittent fasting and I’m not going to take statins just because vested interests at the AMA aren’t acknowledging the actual science on LDL cholesterol for example.

I wish you would present a chart showing ideal values for all these values. I'm on a low carb diet now and will be getting my yearly physical exam and blood panel from my doctor in 2 weeks. I would like to compare my values with what you recommend. Also, I went on a keto diet in 1987 to lose weight. After a few months I got temporarily sick from it and would like to know why. So many of these results you just dismiss by saying "they're fine" without giving a number. Since you went to great lengths to show how the lab ranges are skewed by the SAD, saying that without the numbers (MCV, MCH, for example) means that part of the video is useless. I have to argue with my hematologist next week and I was excited when you started this video because you were including actual measurements and they are closer to my own numbers than the Labcorp range, but then you stopped. Bummer.

Ivor Cummins, the biochemical engineer who has emerged as a major figure in the keto space due to his data driven analysis of dietary protocols and myths, frequently cites a statement that is said in his field of engineering (paraphrase): "If it doesn't get measured, it doesn't get fixed". I agree. We must have good measurements if we desire to see if things are functioning properly. The question is what measurements to use, and more importantly, should we alter our benchmarks for what constitutes "health" based on dietary context. This is why I really appreciate this segment you have provided us, Dr. Cywes, where you emphasize that many of the standard health parameters that are provided to us my the authorities are not applicable to a keto practitioner. Moreover, many of these health standards, since they are predicated on an individual eating your standard American high carb diet, may give that individual the false sense that they are healthy when they are not.

Hey Dr Cywes, im a bit worried about my cholesterol results. My LDL is 135, HDL is 44, Total is 197, and triglycerides are 85. LDL looks a bit high, ive been doing keto. I know you mention LDL isnt terrible, but is that still a high number?

Committed keto 2 years. My A1C went from 5.0 6 months ago to 5.9 with going closer to carnivore with leafy greens? Also APOb is 178. Triglycerides 90. Going in the opposite direction with more effort. 😞

Are you trying to lose weight? Have you tried eating more fats instead of more protein? Ive done keto 2.5 years and want to go carnivore. I eat 130-150g fat and around 75g protein at maintenance and ate 75-100g fat to 75g protein in weight loss mode. Many carnivores report their aic going up and someone calles it a false raise..but protein is more insulin rising, but I personally think its due to more protein than fat.. Protein needs stay the same and the goal needs to be met whereas fats can be played with. Depending on your preferences, you can add fat or dip meat directly or on top, add more salad dressings (preferably homemade as corn starch and maltodextrin linger in most with bad oils), sauces like a mushroom gravy, bernaise, alfredo.. But truly id youre not solid carnivore Id take a closer look at what youre eating if eating any packaged goods at all. There may be more offenders than you realize. Do you track your food and weight everything out? Trying to help! ✌

Cut carbs, processed food, seed oils. Watch videos by Dr Cywes, Dr Ken Berry, Dr Paul Mason… watch videos by David Diamond on statin before you take the medicine.

no, change diet. Ststin do NOT have a reduction of absolute risk, but they create pain, make you impotent, cause diabetes

is it possible that too much meat, will be stored for type A+ blood? I read the book on how to feed according to your blood type.

Blood type and diets has no correlation between the two in literature. The question is qhat ratio of protein to fat thats needed. I think women need higher fats and men can handle more proteins. Some people like shawn baker do well on higher protein to fat and others get sick if not enough fat. It will also depend on if youre in weight loss mode or maintenance and what your goals are, like building muscle. Personally at maintenance I eat twice as much fat to protein, gram to gram. In weight loss, protein and fat were 1 to 1 gram to gram so usually sat around 75g/75g. Remember, ketosis and fasting are both protein sparing, so we lose less protein than glucose metabolizers. But how much protein is a big contention in the keto community. Some say eat 0.4g/kg other 0.6..0.8...1.0.. Traditional literature says 1.2.. But more carnivores say even 1.5 to 2.0. Im at 68 kg so 75g naturally occurred and at 1.1g/kg. Needs also go up with age, double but from what startpoint I'm unsure. ✌
